On Saturday morning the competitors looked at the track with light rain falling & we all decided to forgo qualifying & wait for our first race. Race one was a ten lap race that saw a drying track but had water running across turn two & the back straight & the rest of the course was like ice but we got underway with Brian Walden Taking the lead from Michael Coulter with his dad Steve closely following in third place & Ken Croft looking for a way past all of them. Walden maintained his lead till lap seven when on the main straight he was changing gear from 2nd to 3rd and managed to select 1st instead so Michael Coulter seized on the opportunity to take the lead from Walden & Steve Coulter gave it everything to follow thought as well but Walden managed to find the third & just hold out Dad Coulter into turn two & all the while Croft looking on for a manoeuvre on all of us. Junior Coulter managed to hold onto the lead till race end & finished 1st ahead of Walden by three tenths of a second & Walden finishing 2nd only six tenths ahead of dad Coulter & Croft finishing 4th enjoying his first race in the Nascar in the dry. Race Two was another ten lap race with the sun out & the track was starting to grip up. Michael Coulter lead from the start but Walden passed young Coulter into turn two too take the lead from lap one & held out Coulter for four laps but Michael got a better run onto the main straight & held the inside line to take the lead. Croft had a big off at the top of the circuit & dragged mud onto the track that nearly caught out Michael Coulter but Walden wasn’t as lucky & went off but managed to regain just in front of Steve Coulter. Michael maintained the lead to the checkered flag beating Walden by seven tenths of a second. Steve Coulter was all over Walden like a bad suit for a few laps but backed off when he developed an oil leak in the differential causing the left hand rear tyre get a large amount of oil on it. The Coulter oil leak took the pressure off Walden to claim 2nd place easily. Croft finished in fourth after his big off in the middle of the race. Race three was a twelve lap race that once again saw Michael Coulter lead into the first corner from Walden with Croft in third place. Steve Coulter was a non-starter due to not having a spare diff axle oil seal. Young Coulter & Walden went at each other for the whole twelve laps but towards the end lapped cars created a couple of car lengths between them but Walden kept the pressure on Michael to the end. Croft was third & was now getting used to the black stuff by circulating two seconds quicker that he was doing in the first two races. Sunday morning saw the Nascars return for a ten lapper as their final race for the weekend. Michael lead into the first corner with again Walden all over him & both where pushing hard but when Stuart Inwood came onto the scene & put the blowtorch on Walden who had to defend Inwood in every corner. Walden was that busy holding off Inwood he couldn’t work over young Coulter who then started to pull away about a car length per lap from Walden & by race end turned the gap into about eight car lengths. Croft developed a handling issue in the third lap that dogged him till the finish. The crowd where loving the dicing & all the talk of the meeting was on the trucks & the Nascars. Our next round is the 23rd 24th of November with the trucks again. Ends For further information contact Brian Walden 0400 157 650
