Windon turn-key DC solar material. Ground structure, own patent 1300144-1. Inverter portfolio series 1-20kW, 9 different sizes 1-phas and 3-phas. Solar module, specifically used material to gain kWh/Y. Ground structure: Our strong Swedish invention of ground structure suited only for our own solar modules is the one thing we are most proud about. It’s constructed so that it, when using the right kind of tools, no other structure on the market can be set-up faster than ours. We can with accuracy claim that the mounting of ground installations using our ground structure only consumes ¼ of the time any of our competitors needs to do the same job. We have also taken into consideration the important safety issues that can apply during a site building, i.e. if the installer have no equipment for heavy lifting and do all work standing on the ground. Ground structure is also made of steel rather than aluminum to provide a much stronger support for the solar modules. Ground structure is not only galvanized, we have also added a powder coating to insure long life span to rough climates. Inverters: We have used many inverters throughout the years, including the absolute best on the market. Even though some of the inverters that can be bought on the market has good potential concerning reliability our competitors are not offering a unified and conformed line of inverters covering sizes from 1-20 kW which. Therefore it is always of major importance what type of hard- and software that is being used in the inverters if using a 1kW or 20kW inverter. Partly because of the above Windon decided, a few years back, to introduce to the market an all-inone inverter. Our whole series of inverters are equipped with the most trusted hard-/software available, meaning that the installer will always know that there is no difference when installing a 1 kW 1-phase inverter or a 20 kW 3-phase inverter. All the inverters come with the same high-end quality hardware and to top it all the software is always the same in all of our inverters. Swedish quality solar panels: Our PV Solar Panels are developed in Sweden by Swemodule AB. Customers can choose from a turn-key package with inverters and our mounting equipment or solar panels only. The panels are made with top quality (A-classified) cells and materials resulting into a significantly stronger structure giving higher output at all circumstances – this means they produce both more energy and have a longer life than our competitors, which enables us to offer an our panels with a 50 year warranty. We have a partnership with a company having a large production facility that, very successfully, has been manufacturing panels for more than 10 years. 1 (4) We are proud say that our 50 years Solar panel warranty is a guarantee for an outstanding product. Ground mounted installations of solar panels is an important aspect when it comes to commercial power generation which is the only productive way to install solar panels on major ground installations in a solar farm. We are involved with a development company with whom we are constantly developing new products and renewable energy solutions. We and they have jointly designed and developed unique mounting structures for both ground, ceiling and wall for solar panels where simplicity and quality always is in focus. Together with them we are working on technologies to facilitate and improve products in order to have maximum understanding of the performance of the products and how they are structured. When choosing to invest in a solar energy system regardless of size, it's usually about an investment that will stand the test for very long period of time. A solar panel can be subjected to rough environmental abuse. It must withstand wind loads, snow loads, salts, impurities, water, and not least the UV radiation from the sun. The panel should be able to withstand such environmental effects for many years in order for a solar plant to create a good ROI (Return on Investment). Because of a the hard competitiveness in the industry many manufacturers have botched materials and tried to reduce costs by choosing cheaper materials; henceforth, such practice ignores the long-term tests and relevant endurance of the solar system, by taking a risk on assumption levels that all will go well for the ROI values, despite knowing that it wasn’t the best process or being an improper method to assume the output when using cheap and insufficient materials and components in a system. Unfortunately, these kind of mistakes will cost customers a lot of money. The companies creating such problems are rarely able to economically meet its warranty obligations, and then one can figure out the losses pertaining out of such unethical practices finally severely affects the investors of such projects. In the end it is of course the end user / investor who after having spent large sums of money and then instead of being able to deliver power from their panels for 35 years are allowed to pick them down after 5 years. No brilliant deal! It is noticeable to the customer that it is not always the last thousand patches on the purchasing price that is decisive for a good deal, but there are many other aspects to consider. 5-15% increased power of solar cells: Thanks to the special etched glass we use for our solar panels we are able to derive 5-15% more power compared to other manufacturers. The production lines are setup with high quality machinery and simultaneously with high quality controls to deliver a superior product that will last a lifetime. 2 (4) More about our Solar panels. The glass: A glass with low iron content is utilized and thus very high light transmission is achieved. The glass has an anti-glare treatment using a unique etching method. This method ensures high energy yields under all lighting conditions and throughput of the module pattern and a selfcleaning surface. The reflections are additionally less from this type of anti-reflection treatment. EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate): EVA is a material that binds together the laminate: It’s importantly that the material is UV stable, has high adhesion and high light transmission. Our material has all of these qualities. We have used this material for 10 years in more than 2 million solar panels. Until today, we have no complaints that can be attributed to the EVA. A common problem with solar panels are unstable EVA materials and/or lamination processes e.g. resulting in modules yellowing after a short time causing reduction of the effectiveness. Poor adhesion of materials in a solar panel can 3 (4) also help to release and create air pockets in the laminate as the latter can lead to condensation, which of course will destroy the solar panel in the long run. Ribbons (electrical connection between the cells): When choosing electrical interconnections it is important to take into account the characteristics of the solar cell and panel since it will be exposed to large temperature variations for many decades. We have therefore chosen extra soft copper, fully adapted to solar panels. In addition, we braze cells together with a technology that allows exposure to the cells to a very minimal stress level. We have in tests with "harder" copper noticed that both the cells burst and the connection between cells break. We also put a crease in the ribbon between the solar cells to prevent stretching due to instant variation in temperatures causing the creation of hotspots. (A hotspot is likely to emerge on a stretched and narrowing ribbon as the current in the panel will have difficulty to pass, which creates heat at the hotspot that eventually creates a fire or broken ribbon) Connections: Our choice of the junction depends on several things. Firstly, it is partially fully adapted to an automated process, where it is applied and soldered by robots. Secondly, the diodes inside the box are of the highest quality in its class (diodes are important for the panel's life when the individual cells are shaded so that no heat is built up on a specific spot). Thirdly, all connections are welded or soldered. The fourth feature is that the LEDs are surface mounted for optimal cooling. Junction boxes have historically been involved in major quality concerns in the industry. Lack of contact, sealing, static protection, wiring, diodes, etc. that in the worst case causes a fire. Aluminum: One might think there is a single component, but we have adapted the framework for Nordic conditions. This is by preventing the accumulation of water (condensation) in the frame leading to frost damage. This is achieved through an optimized oval drainage, solid passage inside the frame and a recess for water drainage in all four corners. The construction of our frame holds up to 8000 Pascal’s (This can be equated to approximately 8 m of snow). The framework can be delivered in different colors depending on where it should sit. Frost is a problem a manufacturer in warmer countries not often taken into account, which can be seen on installations in cold climates. Christer Nilsson Windon AB 2016-11-16 4 (4)
