Harrison High School DECA team takes 19 State
medals
Farmington MI — Harrison High Schools’ DECA team had a successful competition at Lakeland
High School in Milford on Saturday, January 10. After a very long day of competition, Harrison had 19
State gold medal winners out of the 30 students that competed. The District event includes 900 students
from Oakland and Livingston counties.
“I was thrilled each one of our students who took the stage received overall winner status with a state
medal, said Nina Merget, Marketing Teacher and Co-op Coordinator at Harrison. “This was a tremendous feat!”
The Harrison DECA students will go on to compete at the State level, March 13-15 in Grand Rapids
Michigan. Students will be up against more than 3,300 marketing students in the state. The event will
take place at the DeVos Place Convention Center.
The DECA web site describes DECA in the following way “prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around
the globe.”
