KS2 Standards Information 2015-2016 Progress Trends Progress was measured very differently in 2016 than in previous years. To calculate progress, children were put into prior attainment ‘bands’ based on the average of their KS1 results in reading, writing and maths combined. Children’s individual scaled scores at the end of KS2 were then compared with the average scaled scores for all children in their prior attainment band. A score of +1 would indicate that their individual score was one scaled score point higher than the average for children who had the same prior attainment. The difference scores for the whole Year 6 cohort were then averaged to give an overall progress score. A score of zero would indicate that children at Woodhouse West made the same progress as other children from the same prior attainment point at KS1. A positive score indicates better than average progress, a negative score indicated less than average progress. 12-13 13-14 14-15 15-16 Reading 100% 83% 88% +5.9 (+4.0 to +7.8) Writing 96% 91% 97% -1.5 (-3.4 to +0.4) Maths 91% 100% 94% +1.8 (+0.2 to +3.4) Age-related expectations Attainment in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in 2016 was, for the first time, based on the new National Curriculum. The results from this year cannot, therefore, be compared with previous years’ information. The figure given in brackets is the teachers’ assessment of the pupils’ attainment. 12-13 13-14 14-15 15-16 Greater depth 81% 15-16 Expected standard 26%* Reading 96% 92% Writing 82% 81% 72% 81% 29% Maths 91% 97% 81% 57%* 15% 21% 2* 2015-2016 Combined 15% * Average scaled score: Reading = 95, Maths = 100.
