IN FOCUS: AGRICULTURE AND FOOD IN
THE CLASSROOM
On January 25th the RAS Education team
had a great day at Bondi facilitating our
first Primary School BOSTES approved
Teacher Professional Development Course.
We were hosted by Montessori East in Bondi
who were delighted to welcome us and
our chickens who came to help teachers
learn firsthand how to best handle chooks!
Teachers learnt all about the poultry
industry, keeping chickens in metro schools,
ideas for STEM and Project Based Learning,
incorporating agriculture into programing
and tips on assessment and evaluation.
Miss
Baaa
The level of engagement and high-order
questioning from teachers was fantastic
and we have received excellent feedback
from the day.
•‘The wealth of resources provided and
described was incredible. The information
was so carefully conveyed and detailed’
•‘The most useful sessions of the day had
to be questioning techniques to help
begin our project planning and the
information around poultry and the best
way to incorporate the industry into our
schools.’
The RAS Education team run Teacher
Professional Development courses yearround. If you are interested in hosting
or getting involved with Primary Schools
