Brief Overview of Agency The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust is the UK’s largest provider of community health and adult social care services and is responsible for adult social and community healthcare within Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. The Partnership is the part of the NHS that provides health and care services in your community including community hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, schools, prisons and in your own home. Our teams include district nurses, occupational therapists, dental services, school nurses, social workers, dental services, physiotherapists, sexual health services, health visitors and many more, who all work together to ensure you receive care close to or in your own homes instead of hospital or a residential home, helping you stay independent. Telephone No: 01889 571404 Agency showcase of how safeguarding children is driven forward within your agency Safeguarding Children is part of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust mandatory and statutory training for all employees of the trust. This is carried out every 3 years. Training for frontline staff who works predominantly with children is also mandatory both as a single agency and as a multiagency to ensure all our staff have the expertise to protect children. There is a weekly high-level safeguarding report to Executives on a Monday with all high-level cases for discussion. The weekly communication brief ‘The Word’ contains relevant articles for all staff in relation to safeguarding children. The Trust supports health representation on two Local Safeguarding Children Boards, two Executive Boards and all the sub-groups of the two Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards. The Safeguarding Team provide support supervision and training for all designations of staff. All legal work related to children is coordinated through the Safeguarding Teams. Reports are received at a number of meetings that include Governance, Operational, Safeguarding Committees and Board. Evidence of the impact – (the ‘so what’ factor) Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent NHS Partnership Trust through a number of NHS Reforms has continued to ensure the safeguarding of children remains a focal point within the organisation. We have committed ALL our workforce to protect the most vulnerable through education, training and awareness sessions. We remain a strong partner in tackling child abuse across the large geographical area. Early intervention work and referral to other agency help reduce the trauma children experience. Although referral figures both for safeguarding and looked after children continue to raise the expertise of frontline staff of early detection helps reduce the impact on the health and wellbeing of the children and young people.
