Offsetting the New Metrics of Sustainability
Throughout September 2012, Sustainable Brands explored the shifting nature of value and the new business metrics that are being crafted to help define, measure, and manage value for the future. Aptly, the month wrapped up with the second annual New Metrics of Sustainable Business Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two-­‐day conference drew participation from six countries and attracted leaders from brands as wide-­‐ranging as Dow, Disney, Procter & Gamble, Interface, Hess, Nestlé, L’Oreal, Bloomberg, and dozens more. Leading consultancies, academics, NGOs, and governmental agencies—including Deloitte, Ernst & Young, UNC Kenan-­‐
Flagler Business School, The Global Reporting Initiative, the IIRC, and The Nature Conservancy—also participated in the discussion of how companies will create and report on the value they’re offering.
