Time Sheet Reminder For MS Windows Vista Simple Solution Use MS Windows Vista’s “Task Scheduler” application Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools--> Task Scheduler Double click on the “Add Task Scheduler” wizard button • The “Task Scheduler” dialog box will appear • Under “Actions”, click on “Create Task…” • The “Create Task” box will appear • Enter “Time Sheet Reminder” as the name of the task • Then, click the “Triggers” tab • Click on the “New…” button • The “New Trigger” dialog box will appear • Under “Settings”, select “Weekly” • Check the boxes for “Monday”, “Tuesday”, “Wednesday”, “Thursday” and “Friday” • Set the “start” time for this “task” • Click the “OK” button • At the “Create Task” dialog box, select the “Actions” tab • Click on the “New…” button • The “New Action” dialog box will appear • Click on the “Browse…” button • The “Open” dialog box appear • Use it to find “Internet Explorer” on your computer • Click on “Computer” • Click on the “Program Files” folder • Click on the “Internet Explorer” folder • Select “iexplore.exe” (the “Internet Explorer” executable) • Then click the “Open” button • You should return to the “New Action” dialog box • As part of the “New Action”, you will need to “Add arguments” • Add the following arguments to the “Add arguments” field: -new “http:\\mytime.stsci.edu” • Then, click the “OK” button • You should return to the “Create Task” dialog box with a newly created action • Click the “OK” button For CSC folks • Substitute the following URL: http://mytime.stsci.edu with https://etes.csc.com/iTES/loginframe.htm • Finally, exit out of the “Task Scheduler” application Thanks for their assistance: • Melissa Russ (ST ITEB Branch Manager) • Sara Anderson (ST DPAS developer)
