As a Plant Engineer with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service you’ll be providing a valuable supporting role based at our Headquarters. Every day brings a variety of challenges which keep our operations smooth running - from planned routine maintenance checks of the mechanical plant - heating boilers and ventilation equipment, repairing breakdowns whenever possible, testing the fire alarms and emergency generators. For this varied and demanding role, we’re looking for a self-motivated, time-served crafts person with: • • • • • • • • Proven experience and awareness of Mechanical and Electrical trades: heating, ventilation, gas boilers, plumbing installations and gas servicing Qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering - City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3. IOSH or NEBOSH certification welcomed. A solid track record of property management, and the day-to-day responsibilities: • trouble shooting and finding solutions in a timely manner, • managing staff (in-house and contracted), • Key knowledge of building regulations, permits and Risk Assessments. • An understanding of energy management systems. Awareness of sustainability and cost-saving initiatives Eager, hardworking team player who works well under pressure Excellent communication skills and people management skills, with the ability to work with contractors across the site. Great ICT and organisational / planning skills Full driving licence required.
