Foundation.
Walmart executives and associates present River
City Food Bank with an $85,000 grant from the
Walmart Foundation. The nonprofit unveiled a new
refrigerated truck which will be used to transport
food from its source — the growers and donors —
to the food insecure in the urban core.
“River City Food Bank knows that our families crave and
thrive on fresh fruits and vegetables, but accessing them
and making sure they are kept cool to preserve the quality
has been a challenge for us,” said Eileen Thomas, executive
director of River City Food Bank. “Thanks to a generous
grant from the Walmart Foundation, our new refrigerated
truck enables us to access and refrigerate a great quantity
of these nutritional fruits and vegetables for the more than
5,500 hungry people who come to us each month.”
