Opening
• The Dispatch Profession in the United States
has been around since the first Dispatcher,
Stephen Floyd Whalton was certificated on
June 30, 1938.
• Since that time the FAA has certificated
thousands of Dispatchers.
• In recent years the FAA came to the
conclusion that they needed inspectors with
experience.
Opening
• The first ASI/Aircraft Dispatcher, Thomas Rau
was hired into the American Airlines CMO
June 17, 2001, since that time 11 other
inspectors were hired.
• Because we are all Dispatchers first, we have
a vested interest in the profession.
• I fully support the role of IFALDA and ADF in
raising the bar, increasing safety.
