What we did:
Create a Framework for delivering buildings
Net Zero | Ormiston Venture Academy – Case Study
Successful academy needed more space.
Gross Internal Area – 342m2
Opportunities & Benefits
Delivery – Autumn 2016
A new single storey building comprising of four classrooms with staff room,
WC provision and storage was manufactured off-site by UKEP.
Foundations and slab were constructed in 2 weeks with the building being
assembled on site in just over 2 weeks minimising disruptions to the school.
The Net Zero building solution offers high environmental performance
Standards;
The building uses renewable resources to generate more energy
than it consumes.
Super insulated timber-faced panels manufactured off site for rapid, clean assembly
provide an extremely airtight structure with minimal heat loss.
Mechanical heat recovery ventilation, sensor-controlled low energy lighting and
natural daylight create an excellent interior environment

The EFA has a Plan
Standardise quality components to create bespoke education
solutions – see the current EFA Modular Framework – to improve
quality and reduce costs
Leading a move towards better value – including off-site building
to improve speed and timetable
Integrate standardisation and technology to deliver contemporary
low carbon spaces with low maintenance costs, i.e., better value
over the life of the building
Reduce reliance on consultants and fees, to further reduce real
costs
