Technology in the
workplace
Word processing
is a computer application used for the
production (including composition, editing,
formatting, and possibly printing) of any sort
of printable material.
Word processor may also refer to an
obsolete type of stand-alone office machine,
popular in the 1970s and 80s, combining the
keyboard text-entry and printing functions
of an electric typewriter with a dedicated
computer for the editing of text.
Spreadsheets

A spreadsheet is a computer
application that simulates a paper,
accounting worksheet. It displays
multiple cells that together make up a
grid consisting of rows and columns,
each cell containing either
alphanumeric text or numeric values.

A spreadsheet cell may
alternatively contain a formula that
defines how the content of that
cell is to be calculated from the
contents of any other cell (or
combination of cells) each time
any cell is updated. Spreadsheets
are frequently used for financial
information because of their ability
to re-calculate the entire sheet
automatically after a change to a
single cell is made.
Database


A database is an integrated
collection of logically-related
records or files consolidated
into a common pool that
provides data for one or more
multiple uses. One way of
classifying databases involves
the type of content, for
example: bibliographic, fulltext, numeric, image.
Other classification
methods start from
examining database
models or database
architectures
Presentation software


A presentation program is a computer software package
used to display information, normally in the form of a slide
show. It typically includes three major functions: an editor
that allows text to be inserted and formatted, a method for
inserting and manipulating graphic images and a slide-show
system to display the content.
A presentation program is supposed to help both: the
speaker with an easier access to his ideas and the
participants with visual information which complements the
talk. There are many different types of presentations
including professional (work-related), education,
entertainment, and for general communication.
Tablet PC


In general terms, tablet PC
refers to a slate- or tabletshaped mobile computer
device, equipped with a
touchscreen or stylus.
The term Tablet PC was
made popular in a product
announced in 2001 by
Microsoft, and defined by
Microsoft to be a pen-enabled
computer conforming to
hardware specifications
devised by Microsoft and
running "Windows XP Tablet
PC Edition" operating system
or a derivative thereof.[2]
