Reception
Class
29th January 2016
This week we have really enjoyed
learning about the history of
trains! We have looked at steam
engines and the new modern day
electric trains.
We have also been looking at old
and new transport, we have been
discussing the differences and
similarities.
The children have especially
enjoyed making junk models of
trains and cars. They have also
worked really hard this week in
preparing their Worship assembly.
I was so proud of everyone!
Well done Foundation Stage!
Literacy
During literacy this week
we have been reading the
story of ‘The Train Ride’
by June Crebbin. From this
story we imagined that we
were going on a train
journey. We went into the
role play corner and looked
at all the different things
we could see. We then did
some amazing sentence
writing. We all tried really
hard to remember our
capital letters, finger
spaces and full stops.
Phonics
We have learnt the following
sounds from phase 3 this week.
These sounds are th,ai and ee.
We have also learnt the tricky
words we, be and me.
Maths
This week we have been
learning to tell the time.
We can now read o’clock
times. We have also been
sequencing familiar events
and have been learning the
days of the week. You have
all worked very hard!
Notices
Please can all homework be
completed and be returned by
Tuesday. This weeks homework is
sound th, ai, and ee.
Your child also has a small task to
complete in their learning together
book. I would like this to be
returned by Wednesday.
Many thanks, Miss Brown.
