Educational games for primary and post-primary pupils
Interactive educational resources for primary and post-primary schools are now available on logainm.ie
at http://www.logainm.ie/Cluichi/. These educational resources are targeted at pupils at senior level in
primary school and at transition year pupils at post-primary level, but they may be used at other levels
also.
The resources are been provided as a tool for teachers and pupils. Placenames are a central part of Irish
heritage. We hope that these resources will enhance the experience of teaching and learning Irish as a
pleasurable activity.
The content for these resources was developed by Fiontar (DCU), in collaboration with the Placenames
Branch (Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht). Modello Design Ltd. developed the interactive
features. An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta (COGG) funded the
development of the interactive educational resources.
The following resources are available: crosswords, word searches, matching games, drag and drop
games. The resources are in Irish and are based on the static educational resources already available at
http://www.logainm.ie/scoil/?uiLang=en.
www.logainm.ie is a public Web site which provides the official Irish-language versions of approximately
100,000 places throughout the country. The placenames Web site has attracted 5.9 million hits since its
official launch on 1st October 2008.
