PORT OF LA REDUCES WATER
USAGE BY 29%
Since Mayor Eric Garce 's Mayoral Execu ve Direc ve No. 5:
Emergency Drought Response (ED5) became effec ve on
November 2, 2014, the Port has reduced water usage by 29%.
The Port's meter readings from 2013 through September of 2015
show that the Port is well ahead of the City of LA's goal of 20%
reductions by 2017.

HAPPY HARBOR HALLOWEEN TURNS TEN
On Saturday, October 24th, a combined total of 5,000 Halloween
enthusiasts par cipated in the Port's tenth annual Happy Harbor
Halloween event. With two loca ons, Wilmington Waterfront Park
and the Port's new Downtown Harbor, it was double the fun. The
event featured arts and cra s, face pain ng, a marione e puppet
show, creepy crawly rep les and everyone's favorite, the classic
Halloween costume parade.

COMMUNICATIONS HONORS
The American Associa on of Port Authori es (AAPA) has awarded
t h e Port of Los Angeles the associa on's top communica ons
compe on prize, the Dan Maynard Communica on Award for
Overall Excellence. The Port also earned 21 addi onal awards as
part of the AAPA's 48th annual Communica ons Awards Program,
which received a total of 126 compe on entries from 28 ports
around the country.

VETERAN'S FESTIVAL TO BE HELD
NOVEMBER 7TH ABOARD THE USS IOWA
An all-day Veteran's fes val will be held on Saturday, November
7th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, aboard the Ba leship IOWA located at
250 S. Harbor Blvd., San Pedro, CA 90731. Fes vi es will include a
special Army helicopter landing on board, a ceremonial firing of the
guns, 1940's era swing music, food trucks, vintage vehicles, a
sailor's bar and historic military reenactments.

TRAINING DRILL PROVIDES DISASTER
EXPERIENCE, INSIGHT
On October 23rd, The Los Angeles Port Police, in conjunc on
with other emergency response departments, conducted a very
successful CERT training drill at the Port of Los Angeles' World Cruise
Center.
Special thanks to POLA Port Police, the LAFD, LAPD, Community and
POLA CERT members, H.A.M. Operators/communica on, POLA C&M,
the World Cruise Terminal management and Dignity Health for
support in organizing and volunteers, evaluators and make-up artists.

PETS ON PARADE AT THE PORT
The first annual Howloween Pet Parade was held at the Port of LA
on Saturday, October 31st.
Over 300 humans and 100 pets
a ended this free and furry event, making their way from the
Downtown Harbor to the Fanfare Fountain. The parading pets
wore fes ve and crea ve costumes of all shapes and sizes. Thank
you to all those who brought dona ons of pet supplies which were
collected on behalf of the Harbor Animal Shelter.
