Preschool commences at 8.45am and finishes at 2.45pm.
With the change of season, comes a change in clothing! Please ensure that your child is
dressed in suitable layered clothing – despite the cool starts to our days, it can still be
very warm in the middle of the day!
Practise removing extra layers at home, as zips and buttons can be very tricky!
Please also add warm spare clothes to your child’s bag (including socks) for them to
change into (if needed!)
Hats will still need to be worn by your child during outdoor play.
This is a part of the SunSmart policy.
Suitable footwear is vital to allow the children to be able to explore and investigate the
outdoor area as the weather cools. Gumboots are great for puddles, but not so good for
climbing and running.
Thank you for continuing to pack healthy food options for both Morning Tea and Lunch.
The children enjoy comparing their food with the others in the group during our
communal eating times. They now know that chips, sweet biscuits and chocolates are for
occasional times, not for everyday!
Please see the photos below for lunch ideas that support a healthy lunchbox at Preschool.
Please remember pillows for rest time.
We love celebrating birthdays. There are 22 children in each class. If you would like to
bring in something to share, please check with the educators if there are any allergies.
Healthy food options at Morning Tea and Lunch

We love discussing red, green and amber foods at Preschool, this is the concept of ‘rarely’
‘occasional’ and ‘everyday’ foods. Here are some great examples of lunchtime foods and snacks
that reflect the Kaleen healthy food choices policy.
Water is the most suitable for your child’s drink bottle.
Learning Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
3.2 Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing.

If you need any more ideas or suggestions about food for your child at morning tea and lunch,
please see your child’s educators. We are a nut free preschool.
Warm regards,
Your Preschool Team
Felicity, Julia, Kathryn, Karin and Michelle.

Accompaniments to our Curriculum:
Visiting the Library and borrowing
books has become a firm favourite
with all the children. The familiarity
of the Junior School that they are
gaining from these visits will allow
for a smoother transition to
Kindergarten next year. Please
ensure that their Library Bag is
packed on their respective day, as
some of them become quite
distressed if they miss out on
borrowing!

very fortunate to partake in Music
