Hello Habitat Supporters!
We hope Summer has treated you well. With Fall starting at the
end of the month and school in full swing we know you have a lot on
your plate. We greatly appreciate everything you do for Habitat.
Whether donating, volunteering or advocating, we thank you for
your contributions.
What's happening around here
The Dragon Boat races and the Treasure Hunt last month
were awesome. We hope you were able to participate. If not
there will always be more exciting events, such as the AU
home games and the Dirt Campaign below.
Did you know?
The VISTA program was
started 50 years ago to help
alleviate poverty and
AmeriCorps was started 20
years ago to expand the
program. Today Habitat
serves with nearly 400
AmeriCorps members
annually.
To date, more than 8,000
AmeriCorps members have
served with Habitat for
Humanity. They have
served nearly 20,000 U.S.
families, contributed more
than 13 million hours of
service and engaged more
than 3.1 million volunteers.
Who doesn't love some County Music? Well currently our
favorite song is Dirt by Florida Georgia Line. Teaming up with
Omaze and WarpSpeed, FGL has set out to raise at least
$100,000 for Habitat for
Humanity through the Dirt
Campaign. This campaign's
supporters enter a chance to
win a trip for two on FGL's
"This Is How We Cruise"
each time they donate. To
donate visit this site.
Habitat International is
currently in the planning
stages for the next round of Capacity Build funding with the
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). If
you have interest in these funds when they are made
available later this year, please send the following information
to [email protected]:
Affiliate name, affiliate contact, affiliate phone number,
affiliate e-mail, affiliate address, and position to be filled.

Don't forget that under a new five-year partnership
between Habitat for Humanity and Lowe's, the home
improvement company will continue to be a major sponsor of
National Women Build Week and other Habitat initiatives, but
is no longer the underwriter of the Women Build program.
Please be sure to remove references to Lowe's as the
underwriter of Women Build and update your Women Build
logo.

Kyle, our AmeriCorps VISTA's, service term ended
last month. However he will now join our team as we
were able to hire him as our new Warehouse
Coordinator. Please welcome Kyle to the AAHA family
in his new role.
Also, we have been fortunate that our ReStore has
continued to grow. However that
means that we need a
few more
hands around the
store. Please give a
warm welcome to Sean
as he steps up and
become our new ReStore
Associate!
We know both of
them will do great
things, so stop by and
congratulate them.

Game Time!
Our 1st time ushering at an
AU home game was AU vs.
Arkansas and it was such a
blast!
If you wanted to help out but
were unable to, don't worry. We
still have 3 games that we will
be working. This will be a great
Kyle & Sean
way to spread the word about Habitat's work, interact with
fans and watch most of the game for free.
Remember we can only have 50 people with us each
game so hurry and contact Brandon Dixon
at [email protected] if you'd like to serve with us.
We don't yet know the times of the games, but we will give
those who are ushering with us more details as we get them.
The games we are serving at are below:
LSU (10/4)
South Carolina (10/25)
Texas A&M (11/8)
September Sale
We are trying to clear out some space for new items.
To help with this we are giving a FREE book of your
choice with every purchase.
Also, there is a special of $0.10 per sq ft on select
donated carpets and rugs. We have quite a large
selection of colors and sizes so come by and check
them out before they are all gone.
As always, if you are doing any garage/attic/closet cleaning or
have any leftovers from your home improvement projects please
think of us! We always appreciate you volunteering with us so stop
on in.
