Enrollment figures show Sac State
remains a popular destination
Sacramento State continues to be a popular destination for college students. The
total head count for Spring 2012 was 26,543 students. The total exceeded the
University’s enrollment target by about 3 percent.
The student population continues to diversify. The number of students who
describe their ethnicity as “other” or “mixed” is up 11 percent. The Hispanic population
rose 9 percent, and the African American number grew by 0.5 percent.
“Not only are we seeing increased applications for admission from both the
greater Sacramento region and other areas of the state, such as the Bay Area and
Southern California, but more students who stepped out in the past are expressing
interest in returning to complete their degrees,” says Ed Mills, associate vice president
for Student Affairs, Enrollment and Student Support.
