Drain and Spin At The Same Time

The Inside Story From Speed Queen
DON’T DRAIN FIRST AND THEN SPIN!
Feature – Drain and Spin At The Same Time
The job of a washer is to move clothes through the water to separate dirt from the
fabrics. The job of detergent is to act like a magnet and hold those particles as well as
water hardness minerals in suspension so that they may be flushed away. Some of
these are floating on top of the laundry load. Speed Queen will drain and spin at the
same time. Many competitors will drain water first and once complete, will spin the load
to extract remaining moisture from the fabrics.
Advantage- Cleaner Clothes
With our exclusive 210 degree agitator movement, our washers do a great job
separating dirt from the clothes compared competitive models. Competitor brands will
drain first which means anything floating above the clothes goes back on the clothes –
not where you want it! With Speed Queen’s spin and drain system, we use the
centrifugal force of spin to move up the water up the sides of the wash basket and out
the cylinder holes – away from the clean clothes. Less dirty water is re-distributed back
on the clothes. To further enable this, the holes at the top of the tub are larger and more
numerous than those on the bottom of the tub. We use a ½ hp commercial grade motor
to make this happen while others with a drain first approach can get away with a weaker
1/3 hp or less motor.
Benefit- You Look Better & Feel Better With Cleaner Clothes
And isn’t that the main thing you want from your washer???
Example
With a drain first, spin later design, your clothes act like a coffee filter with all the
chemicals, dirt and minerals. So you have that much more to remove during the rinse
cycle. But that won’t happen if you sue the same system for rinse as for wash.
