Job Summary
You will be expected to help deliver Group wide organisational interventions to ensure robust Equality and Diversity (E&D) practice
with regards to staff that embed this concept across the Group. You will work closely with partners across the Group to promote the
strategy and to make it real for all staff. You will be the first line of contact for managers and staff requiring guidance on E&D
issues. You will be a visible and familiar face within the Group. You will understand the importance of working with partner
agencies to achieve great outcomes.

Experience
Essential
 Our Equality & Diversity Advisor must have experience of designing, delivering and promoting
successful E&D initiatives in a large, multi-location environment
 In depth knowledge of relevant legislation across all equality strands
Desirable
 Experience of working in a unionised environment

 Membership of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
Job Outputs
Role output
Includes the requirement to:
Develop E&D strategy



Work with key stakeholders to establish requirements
Consult with relevant partners to ensure delivery of strategy
Ensure that strategy retains a staff focus
Promote E&D strategy throughout
Group

Actively promote all aspects of E&D ensuring all staff are aware of their
responsibilities
Raise awareness of E&D; make it real for all staff
Conduct staff survey to gauge awareness, make recommendations on the
results of the survey and co-ordinate implementation of agreed outcomes.


Best Practice


Research, apply and promote diversity initiatives and best practice
Conduct benchmarking exercise of current policy and procedure against
external organisations
Staff forums

Design and facilitate staff forums and ensure that they are supported in order
that they become self-sustaining, successful and have a real impact on
supporting staff from different backgrounds throughout the group.
Partnership working

Foster and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders
including trade union representatives
Provision of training, coaching and
mentoring to staff

Evaluate existing training provision to ensure that it delivers on the aims of the
strategy.
Develop E-Learning programme
Provide 1:1 coaching and mentoring as required


Provide advice, guidance and support
on E&D issues

Act as main contact to all parts of the Wheatley Group for all staff-related E&D
matters

Raise concerns through appropriate channels about any behaviour that may
undermine equality, diversity and human rights and ensure that these are
resolved

Work with Policy/Research and Development teams to investigate, coordinate and achieve external recognition for E&D strategy and practice

Provision of statistical information



Establish links with community based organisations to help promote The
Groups commitment to E&D
Develop community based initiatives
Evaluate existing recruitment practice against the objectives of the E&D
Strategy and make recommendations on how they can positively impact of the
diversity of the workforce of the Group
Develop systems to record relevant E&D statistics
Conduct analysis of this data and highlight areas of concern, improvements
and trends
Report on these as/when required
