TRIDO Solar Chemical Injection Pump Consistently Inject Chemicals at the Optimum Rate: Reduce over injecting chemicals Eliminate production loss from under injection No Fuel Gas Venting No odors - Safer work environment - More sales gas Remote Monitoring Injection Through ModBus Protocol Adjust injection rate to changing conditions Manage by exception Advanced Motor/Controller Technology The Trido Actuator Installation Low power consumption - Long battery life Long autonomy in poor light conditions Reduce solar panel requirements Durable - Low maintenance Low life cycle costs Technology Advantage Motor Design: The Trido actuator motor was developed by Canadians to be extremely robust in extreme environments. Very efficient through an entire speed range Lower system installation cost - smaller batteries and panels Very low inrush on startup - (20%) of typical rotary motor, long system and battery life Operates at slow speed for durability, low lifecycle costs and trouble free operation Fluid Ends: The Trido system uses standard fluid ends (conventional pump heads) Field personnel have experience and tools in servicing and adjusting conventional fluid ends New technology fluid ends available for special Applications (diaphragm sealed) Competitive Comparison Competitor Trido Chemical Delivery System Solar Panels Required 150 Watts 100 Watts Current used on start up 30 amps 0.2 to max 3 Amps Continuous Operation Varies Yes Max Pressure 700 PSI ModBus SCADA CSA Class 1 Div 1 Stand alone temperature Optional Yes ‐ Optional Optional 8000 PSI ‐ MaxiMizer Model 3/16" Piston Yes Yes ‐ Standard Yes ‐ Included (requires pur‐ chase of thermocouples) Yes (requires low cost conver‐ sion bracket kit purchase) Convert 5100 series and clone No pumps to solar power Motor speed control No Yes liquid volume control Yes based on a on/off Yes based on variable SPM with continuous operation Yes Fits in existing texsteam foot No print Fluid end Non standard requires manu‐ Uses off the shelf repair parts facture's supply chain easily obtained from most supply store chains Equipment Cost Base $9,000 Base $5,500 (using existing SCADA package power supply and converting existing pump on location to solar power) Field Service No 24/7 on‐call Tundra technician Controller Specifications Trido Actuator Motor Controller The controller operates in three modes: • Manual - off/on and speed set from control keys • Automated pump rate based on input from up to two sensors • Full SCADA control of pump rate through MODBUS connection • Continuously variable rates 10 to 32.5 strokes per minute • Intermittent rates for 1 to 10 strokes per minute CSA Certification: • The motor/gearbox is Certified Class 1 Div 1 Groups C & D • The Motor Controller Certification for Class 1 Div 2 Chemical Savings: Automation of application and precise injection rates can save as much as 40% on chemical usage. Automated Operation: • The Trido motor controller allows the operator to program a progressive start. • For example, with a temperature probe installed: • program desired pump rate and temperature - 25 strokes at 0ºC • program start at 10% of maximum rate - 2.5 strokes at 4ºC • increase to 100% of the rate or 25 strokes at 0°C • Actuator rate can be tied to flow rate or any measurable variable Pressure Range of Standard MiniMizer Model : • 3/16” plunger 6000 PSI • 1/4” plunger 4000 PSI • 3/8” plunger 3000 PSI • 1/2” plunger 1100 PSI Pressure Range of MaxiMizer Model: • 1/4” plunger 7000 PSI • 3/8” plunger 4800 PSI • 1/2” plunger 2000 PSI Installed Base: • Prototype system north of Valleyview, AB Sept 2009 December 2010 • 70 litres per day injecting at 800 to 1200 PSI with no issues. • May 2011: commercial launch - 20 installed MiniMizer Model Solar Power - 1/4” Piston Solar Panel Sizing: The graph shows that at 11.5 litres per day (10 strokes/min) and 150 PSI back pressure, the Trido Actuator uses 3.5 watts or 84 watts per day. If the sunlight on the shortest day of the year is 4 hours and the the solar panels are 75% efficient 28 watts of solar panel are required to recharge the batteries . Assuming 80% efficiency two 12 volt, 75 amp hour batteries deliver 411 hours or 17 days of autonomy. Trido recommends two 35 Watt solar panels and two 12 Volt - 75 Amp Hour batteries in this application. The Environmental Impact The Trido Actuator first and foremost offers a cost effective method for reducing fuel gas venting. Fuel gas used in driving chemical injection pumps typically makes up 50% of the gas vented in field production. Further, automation can reduce chemical additive use by up to 40%. In many cases the efficiency of the Trido motor allows the operator to power the pump from an existing solar installation used to power SCADA or other equipment reducing installation costs and the environmental impact of large numbers of lead acid batteries and solar panels. In new installations, the lower power requirements means fewer and smaller batteries and panels.
