Ixworth The History of Ixworth – Ixworth is a large village, near Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk. It was first found during the Roman Times as a important settlement – The earliest known map of Ixworth was made in 1625 for Lord of the Manor John Carill Esq ( see picture ) The Walnut Cottage – Walnut Cottage is an early 17th century timber-framed thatched house which was formerly two separate cottages. The Ixworth Chicken – The Ixworth Chicken is a breed of white domestic chicken – It was created in 1932 by Reginald Appleyard. – The idea was to create a breed which was a quickly maturing table breed as well as a good produced of eggs. – Their status is rare.
