FLAG FOOTBALL GAME
JOIN US FOR OUR 2ND ANNUAL
RIVALZ: OREGON VS. OREGON STATE
HISTORY & BASIC INFORMATION
FUNDRAISING
RivALZ: Oregon vs. Oregon State is a flag football game played between two teams of women who compete
to inspire fundraising, awareness and action in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. RivALZ drives awareness
among a younger audience and highlights the fact that nearly two-thirds of those with Alzheimer’s and their
caregivers are women.
Players, coaches and superfans commit to raising a minimum of $350, which can easily be achieved with
fundraising guidance from the Alzheimer's Association. Two awards will be presented on game day: one for
the team that wins the game and one for the team that raises the most money!
RivALZ began in the fall of 2005 as Blondes vs. Brunettes®, a flag football event organized by a group of
professional women in Washington, D.C. Since the inaugural game, the event has grown to more than 40
cities, raising more than $9 million and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause. In 2014, to
accommodate nationwide growth, "Blondes vs. Brunettes" grew into RivALZ, empowering participants to
choose the rivalry around which to organize their teams.
Corporate Sponsorships: Please refer to the corporate sponsorship insert regarding opportunities for local
businesses to sponsor RivALZ. If you secure a sponsor, their contribution will count toward your and your team’s
fundraising totals. Please contact Matt Gibson at [email protected] for more information about sponsorships.
Our game takes its inspiration from the most storied of all rivalries in Oregon: the rivalry between
University of Oregon and Oregon State University. Team Oregon and Team Oregon State are made up of
fans, alumnae and their loyal recruits.

Eight players per team
A modified field size of 60 yards x 40 yards
Four 15-minute quarters and one 15-minute halftime
First downs by crossing the 15- and 30-yard lines
Stopped clock only after scores and the last two
minutes of each half
Eight practices will be held in April and May and you will be expected to attend a minimum of six practices. You do
not need flag football experience; your coaches will teach you! Players will create individual fundraising webpages
on the RivALZ website to help meet individual fundraising minimums, attend team fundraisers and – of course –
play on game day!
COACHES
Although coaches already have been selected for both teams, perhaps you would be willing to lend your
fundraising expertise or assist our coaches at some of the practices? Coaches will also create individual fundraising
webpages to help meet fundraising minimums and attend team fundraisers. Please contact Matt Gibson at
[email protected] to learn more about this opportunity.
SUPERFAN
This is for spirited individuals who want to cheer on our teams and help us fundraise but do not wish to play.
Superfans are expected to volunteer at or attend fundraising events and game day. Superfans will have their own
fundraising pages and are welcome to attend practices or serve on the Volunteer Committee.
VOLUNTEER
We’ll need volunteers to help on game day to set up signs, food and water for the players; lead cheers; and be
ready to pitch in to help with all of the little, unexpected tasks that arise when holding a large fundraising event.
