STRATEGIC OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Production Manager will guide, support and develop the business to achieve HWNS
strategic goals and financial and non financial targets. This is achieved by:
 Achieving and improving budget targets as established with the GM
 Identifying areas for growth that will support increased employment opportunities for
people with disabilities and revenue for the businesses
 Lead, coach and mentor staff to streamline practices, identify efficiencies and achieve
performance expectations consistent with the HWNS vision, mission and values
 Work towards continuous improvement in all areas including Sorting, Wash, Ironers,
Towelling, Pack & Dispatch. This will require managing staff performance, product quality
and workplace safety
 Constantly monitoring station output, performance against KPIs and improving efficiency
where possible
 Actively contributing and supporting the General Manager and the overall Laundry
production team.
OPERATIONAL OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 Monitor and manage operational flow of the laundry and
key station performance, to achieve production targets
 Set and manage Production rosters that optimise efficiency
and safety
 Ensuring that equipment is maintained to achieve
performance specifications, and scheduling to minimise
impact to production
 Train and develop staff to ensure performance expectations
are met to a high standard
 Promote team cohesion and a positive work environment
 Ensuring the operation is meeting legislative and industry
standard requirements.
This position description is to be read in conjunction with HWNS
Business Competency Framework and the employee’s
employment contract. KPI’s will be developed annually.
KEY COMMUNICATIONS:
Internal: Employees from frontline staff to Executive General Manager businesses,
Employee Services Coordinator, Shared Services (including HR, IT and Education and
Training, Quality Risk and Safety Teams), Volunteers, Staff and Mangers from other
Business Enterprises.
External: Customers, Suppliers, Auditors, Industry Networks, Contractors, Council.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NEED:











Relevant qualifications in Laundry or similarly production focussed business, with
demonstrated experience
Demonstrated ability to apply experience and knowledge across each Laundry
production element
A proactive, supportive and inclusive management style
Genuine commitment to working with people with disabilities and those who support
them
Demonstrated leadership and training qualities with respect to all staff
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant Workplace Health and Safety
legislation, quality assurance systems and industry benchmarking
Ability to prioritise work tasks and manage fast paced and high pressure production
Ability to drive and manage staff through change management processes
Knowledge of working in an Australian Disability Enterprise and requirements
associated with staff under the supported employment system (or commitment to
quickly acquire)
Effective communication skills and competency in Microsoft Office applications
Current Drivers Licence.
