How do I use my Trash Buddy?
Recyclable Items
The blue bin of your Trash Buddy is for recyclable items. These items
include paper, plastic, glass, cans, glossy paper, newsprint, and
cardboard. When your blue bin is ready to be emptied, simply take
it to the nearest waste station and place the items in the appropriate
bins. Each building will have a waste station for newspaper and
magazines on every floor. Cardboard will need to be taken to
separate locations. Each building has a large cardboard recycling bin.
Locations for the cardboard bins and answers to item specific questions can be found
at bhsu.edu/recycling. Instructional posters will be found at waste stations across
campus.
Landfill/Trash Items
The smaller grey bin of your Trash Buddy is for landfill items.
These items include plastic utensils, paper napkins, paper
towels, Styrofoam, candy wrappers, chip bags, and disposable
coffee cups. Food items such as coffee grounds, tea bags, apple
cores, and other leftovers also belong in the grey bin. When the
landfill bin is ready to be emptied, remove the liner and take
the contents to the nearest waste station and replace your liner.
The farthest right bin is for landfill waste. If you have large
items that need to be removed from your office, please label
them as “trash, please remove” and the custodial staff will remove them. For new
