Food we eat - British Council Schools Online

By Matthew Heaney
In Cornwall we have made up our own food,
called the Cornish pasty. The pasty is a layer
of pastry(in a semicircle shape) with meat;
traditionally beef, potato, swede, onion and
salt and pepper. Finally on top of that is one
more layer of pastry.
Although now days we use those ingredients
they originally were made for miners, so they
had one half meat and the other jam. The
meat was for lunch and the jam was for
pudding.
As well as Cornish food we also eat food like
fish and chips, pizza and chicken curry.
Curry
Chicken curry consists of cooked chicken and
vegetables smothered in a hot sauce
surrounded by rice(white/brown). Personally I
think it is one of the best meals ever created!
Even though we eat it in Cornwall it comes
from the country of southern India.

Pizza
My favourite meal is pizza, pizza is a circle of
bread dough with tomato sauce spread on top. It
is then topped with a topping of your own
choice.
Cheesecake
Cheesecake is my favourite pudding. For those that
don't know what it is, cheesecake is basically a
layer of crumbled biscuit with creamy cheese and
raspberry/strawberry on top.
These two items of food show my personality and
are my main source of happiness and joy.
