SUMMER WORK
• Quietly read the mission/vision statement

• When I give the signal, find someone you do not
normally talk to and stand back to back.
• Prompt: thinking about what you just read, how will
you catalyze change this year…
• Turn around…share one thing that you will do this
year with your department or grade level
LAST YEAR…
I can lead and foster a collaborative environment
with colleagues that are part of my data team.
 Teachers must work collaboratively rather than in isolation.
 Teachers must agree on the essential learning all students must acquire.
 Teachers must agree on how students will demonstrate their learning.
I can apply the Data Wise process with my data
team to develop an action plan using one strategy
from the brainstorm list. I can agree with my
colleagues on how students will demonstrate their
learning.
THIS YEAR
• You will continue to as an ILT member to assist
and/or lead data meetings in your department or
grade level.
• You should have an assessment calendar with key
assessments and a plan for what you will be
analyzing and when.
• New this year…
Write a learning
target for the
agreed action
plan in January.
LEARNING TARGETS
• Learning Target – I can explain the rationale for
using learning targets in daily classroom lessons.
• Long term targets• I can plan targets with meaningful performances of
understanding and student look –fors.
• I can collaborate with my data team to write a target
based on our action plan (that include meaningful
performances and student look-fors.)
FIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF A
LEARNING TARGET
1-Describe what students will learn in today’s lesson.
2- In language students can understand.
3- From the point of view of a student who is learning it for
the first time.
4- Connected to a performance of understanding
• What students do, make, say or write to help them learn it.
5- Provides students things to look for to assess their
understanding as they are learning and working
