1. COURSE OF STUDY AND MINIMUM CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
1.1 COURSE OF STUDY AND AVAILABLE PLACES
The application process for the Second-Cycle Degree Course in Mathematical Engineering held
in English is now open for the academic year 2016/171 .
In the first year, the following places are overall envisaged:
 Free access with prerequisites to "Mathematical Modelling for Engineering and Science" track
for EU and non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy;
 10 places for the "Financial Engineering” track, which second year of study has to be entirely
completed abroad (France, Paris);
 6 places for non-EU citizens residing abroad (1 of which being reserved to “Marco Polo” program),
3 of which for the "Financial Engineering” track.
For the enrollment it is required:
1) to be in possession of a first cycle-university degree or a three years diploma or a foreign
qualification recognized as suitable in accordance with the law in force; all qualifications
mentioned must be awarded no later than 14th October 2016 and, only in case of degrees
awarded in Italy, by 16th December 2016 (in the current year);
2) to be in possession of minimum curricular requirements as explained in point 1.2, which will be
checked in the pre-enrollment process (see 2.2), and, if necessary, the presentation of the
request of assessment of requirements (see 2.3).

All classes are in English language.
The duration of the course is 2 years and requires 120 credits (CFUs), on the completion of which
the second-cycle degree course in Mathematical Engineering will be awarded.

1.2 MINIMUM CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
The enrollment to one of the Second-Cycle Degree Courses mentioned in 1 is possible only in
case the student has the specific curricular requirements and the envisaged personal preparation,
according to law Art. 6, comma 2, del D.M. n. 270/04. Personal preparation includes: suitable
knowledges in the basic subjects, such as mathematical analysis and calculus, linear algebra and
geometry, physics and statistics, and capabilities in using standard software for word processing,
data analysis, scientific calculus; ability in using the methodological-operative aspects of
mathematics and all the basic sciences useful for the interpretation and description of problems

concerning engineering, physics and/or financial engineering, as well as setting and managing
experiments, analyzing and understanding the results, and being aware of the effects of the
engineering solutions in the physical, environmental and financial fields.
The curricular requirements necessary for the admission are the following:

Minimum final grade equal to 84/110 or equivalent;
For all the candidates a B1 English Level is required.

3.a) be in possession of a degree in class/ L-7 “Civil and Environmental Engineering”, L-8
“Information Engineerig”, “Industrial Engineering”, L-30 "Physical Sciences and Technologies ", L31 "Computer Sciences and Technologies", L-35 "Mathematical Sciences", L-18 "Economy
Sciences and Management " ex DM 270/04; possession of a degree in one of the following classes
allows direct access without any need of accomplishing other minimum curricular requirements.

These have to be checked through the presentation of the specific form for minimum curricular
requirements (point 2.3 pf the admission notice):

3)complete the pre-enrollment form as specified in point 2, mandatory for both candidates that
already own a proper degree for the access and those who aim to award the degree in the
current year.
Students who apply for the "Financial Engineering" track, will be selected according to:
- final grade;
-followed by number of months employed for graduating;
- followed by number of CFU cum laude;
- followed by number of exams with a score equal or higher than 30/30.
For the candidates having an Italian degree not belonging to ex DM 509/99 or ex DM 270/2004, or
owning a degree awarded abroad, the minimum curricular requirements for the admission will be
checked by the Admission Board.
2. PRE-ENROLLMENT AND POSSIBLE CHECK OF MINIMUM CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
2.1 REGISTRATION
Candidates who already possess the credentials to access www.uniweb.unipd.it can step to point

Candidates who do not possess yet the credentials to access www.uniweb.unipd.it , must proceed
to
the
registration
of
personal
data
at
https://uniweb.unipd.it/AddressBook/ABStartProcessoRegAction.do
Once the procedure has been concluded, candidates will receive by email the username and an
activation
code,
and
use
them
to
log
in
at
the
page
https://uniweb.unipd.it/password/index.php/it/utenti/identifica/azione/a , select three security
questions and set a new password.
With the username and the new password, it is possible to log in at the personal access area at
https://uniweb.unipd.it .
2.2 ONLINE PRE-ENROLMENT
1) Deadline for the pre-enrollment: the form has to be completed starting from 30th May to 30th
September 2016 at noon. After the deadline the link will work no more, therefore it will be
impossible to submit any application.

After logging in, candidates will have to click on Home  Evaluation Test  Select the degree
“Mathematical Engineering”.
During the procedure, candidates will need to choose the track and to specify their degree,
necessary to have access to the chosen course, if not already updated.
3) Pre-enrollment fees: once they have filled in the pre-enrollment application, applicants must pay
the € 30.00 fee due by using the MAV form. It is possible to pay it in any bank. In the event that
payment is to be made from abroad, it is possible to use the Credit Transfer Request Form
available at http://www.unipd.it/servizi/esperienze-internazionali/iscrizioni-studenti-stranieri If the
payment is done in a foreign country, it is necessary to follow the instructions available at
http://www.unipd.it/servizi/esperienze-internazionali/iscrizioni-studenti-stranieri .
4) Contacts: In the event of any difficulties with the on-line procedure, the candidate may telephone
the University’s Call Center/Centre, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5
p.m., (tel. number +39 049/8273131) or write an e-mail to [email protected] .
This service may also be subject to temporary suspensions due to technical upgrades.
5) IT workstation: Those who do not have an internet access or an IT workstation can come to the
Enrollment Office (via Venezia 13, Padova) or to the branch in Treviso (complesso San Leonardo.

2.3 MINIMUM CURRICULAR ASSESSMENT
2.3.1 Graduates (or who are graduating) in one of the degree classes which allow direct
access to the chosen Second-Cycle Degree Course and that have chosen the “Mathematical
Modelling for Engineering and Science” track, need to complete only the pre-enrollment form
available online, since the minimum curricular requirements for admission to the Second-Cycle
degree are already satisfied
After the online procedure has finished, they must print out the resume and the payment MAV
form for the € 30,00 fee due; payment can be done in any National Credit Institute.
Candidates do not have to bring any documentation to the Student Secretary Service.

2.3.2 Graduates (or who are graduating) in one of the degree classes which do not allow
direct access or graduates abroad, and all the candidates who have chosen the “Financial
Engineering” track need to complete the online pre-enrollment form and:
-Print out the resume of the pre-enrollment form, including the MAV payment form
-Pay the € 30,00 fee due, one for each pre-enrollment form;
-Complete the PDF request form for the minimum curricular requirements, available at the link
http://www.unipd.it/domanda-valutazione ;
Bring to Front-Office of Student Secretary, Lungargine Piovego, 2/3 by 30th September
2016:

A copy of the resume of the form completed ,

The request form for the minimum curricular requirements completed in all the parts with
apposta una marca da bollo secondo il valore vigente;

A copy of the ID;

Copy of the receipt of the € 30,00 fee due payment.
All the documentation mentioned above can be send by certified mail, but only the request forms of
the minimum curricular assessments sent by the deadline of the pre-enrollment to the Front Office
of Student Secretary, , Lungargine del Piovego 2/3, - 35131 – Padova will be accepted and taken
into consideration.
FURTHER ONLINE PRE-ENROLLMENTS
Candidates who aim to graduate by 16th December 2016 (only in case of degrees awarded in Italy)
can complete the pre-enrollment form, together with the request form of the minimum curricular
assessments, also from 7th November 2016 to 13th January 2017, according to the procedures
shown in this Section.

3.
OUTCOMES OF MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ASSESSMENT AND ONLINE ENROLLMENT
APPLICATION
3.1 GRADUATES BY THE 14TH OCTOBER 2016 - MATHEMATICAL MODELLING FOR
ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE TRACK
Applicants who are immediately eligible because of first-cycle degree compliance and applicants
who are admitted thanks to the assessment of minimum curricular requirements may proceed the
enrollment, after:
they have checked the award of the outcome “Idoneo” in their reserved area in Uniweb.
they have checked in Uniweb the data entry concerning the first-cycle degree awarded.
Graduates who come not from the University of Padua must update these data in their
reserved area in Uniweb.
Before enrolling, female candidates will be required to read the "Regulation for the attendance of
workshops by pregnant students" at:
http://www.unipd.it/universita/statuto-regolamenti/regolamenti/regolamenti-studenti .
The enrollment is divided into two steps:

Step 1: The enrollment application must be completed by logging the site www.uniweb.unipd.it
with their own credentials starting from the 18th July 2016 (only in case that the minimum number
of pre-enrollments necessary for the activation of the course is achieved, by the 25th October 2016
at noon.
Didactics -> Enrolment for unlimited places -> Course List “’Second cycle degree”;
- Select the preferred course;
Book the time and day in which to report to the Enrolment Office to finalize the registration;
 Complete the questionnaires provided;;
- Confirm and print the enrollment application and the MAV form for the payment of the first
installment of tuition fees, which amount is 568,50 Euros. Further information is available on
http://www.unipd.it/avvisi-ammissione-corsi). Payments may be made at any bank in Italy.
Step 2: the student will report to the Enrollment Office in Padua – Via Venezia 13, on the day and
time of the appointment with the application form, two photocopies of the identity document (the
data entered in the enrollment application must be the same with those in the identity document),
two identical passport-size pictures and the original receipt of the first installment of tuition fees.
3.2 GRADUATES BY THE 14TH OCTOBER 2016 - FINANCIAL ENGINEERING TRACK
If the number of eligible applicants is greater than the number of available places, a new ranking
according to criteria specified in Section 1 will be drawn up and then published at the link
http://www.unipd.it/graduatorie-ammissione, by the 20th October 2016.
Winners will be then able to enroll following the instruction explained by 3.1.
3.3 GRADUATES IN THE CURRENT YEAR BY THE 16TH DECEMBER 2016 (ONLY ITALIAN
DEGREES)
Eligible applicants for the Mathematical modelling for engineering and science track, may
proceed the enrollment, after:
they have checked the award of the outcome “Idoneo” in their reserved area in Uniweb.
they have checked in Uniweb the data entry concerning the first-cycle degree awarded.
Graduates who come not from the University of Padua must update the data in their
reserved area in Uniweb.
If there are vacancies left for the Financial Engineering track after the 16th October, a new
ranking will be drawn up and then published on the 13th January 2017.
Eligible applicants can complete the enrollment form starting from 14th November 2016 to no later
than the 31st January 2017, at noon.

4.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AND SHORTED STUDY PROGRAMM
For the purposes of credits for the 2016/17 academic year, candidates must submit the pre-

enrollment application referred to point 2.1 and the application for the assessment of minimum
curricular requirements and acknowledgement of credits referred to point 3.2. The outcome
provided by the assessment commission shall establish the year of admission and the possible
acknowledgements.
5. FOREIGN AND ITALIAN STUDENTS WITH UNIVERSITY DEGREES FROM ABROAD
Admission is ruled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Circular and the Ministry of Education, of the
University and the Research Academic Year 2016-17, available at http://www.studiare-initalia.it/studentistranieri/ .
In order to complete the enrollment process all applicants who have achieved foreign qualifications
must come to the Foreign Office Service [email protected] ; Requests of extension for
the presentation of all enrollment documents will be not accepted.
6.
HEAD OF PROCEDURE, PRIVACY POLICY, NOTES AND WARNINGS
1) In accordance with Article 4 of Law 241 of 7th August 1990 (New rules of administrative
procedure and the right to access administrative documents), and subsequent amendments, the
President of the assessment Commission is appointed as head of the administrative examination
procedure.
2) Mr. Donato Sigolo, Head of the Student Services Office, is appointed as person in charge of the
proceedings for access to records. Applicants are entitled to request access to the records of the
competition procedure according to the method set out in Presidential Decree n. 184 of 12th April
2006.
3) Concurrent enrollment to several courses: regulations for simultaneous enrollment are available
at http://www.unipd.it/avvisi-di-ammissione-ai-corsi .
4) Regulations in force on the subject of certifications and self-declarations: in the event that the
documentations submitted by applicants proves to be false or untruthful, without prejudice to the
penalties provided by the Penal Code and special laws on the subject (arts 75 and 76 of
Presidential Decree 445/2000), the candidate automatically forfeits his enrollment. The University
shall recover any benefits granted (e.g. Scholarships) and will not refund any fees paid. False
statements will also lead to action for damages by the respondents. For any information not
specified in this admission notice, current legislation shall apply.
