Internet Banking Tutorial
Register
To register for Internet banking all you need is to have at least one Standard Bank account linked to a
Standard Bank card and to follow these instructions:











Click on the register link
Enter your card number
Enter your ATM PIN. If you have used telephone or cellphone banking, enter your customer-selected
PIN.
Click on Register
Create a customer-selected PIN
 Enter a 5-number PIN
 Reconfirm your 5-number PIN
 Click on Submit
 Click on Next
Create a new password
 Enter between 6 and 16 characters – this must be a combination of alphabetical letters and
numbers
 Confirm your password
 Click on Submit
 Click on Next
Accept the electronic banking agreement
Fill in the registration form
Click on Submit
Phone the Customer Contact Centre on 0860 123 000. Have your account details handy.
If you need to link any accounts to your card, you will need to visit a branch.
Log on
To log on to Internet banking you need to:
 Enter your card number
 Enter your new customer-selected PIN
 Enter your new password
 Click on Logon
 The My accounts page will display
My accounts
The My accounts screen displays all accounts linked to your card, this could include your current account,
AccessBond, credit card, and investment and loan accounts. The latest available balances on all these
accounts will be displayed. This is also the area where you can access your statements, pay
beneficiaries, transfer funds between your accounts, increase or decrease your overdraft, communicate
with your branch, and even open and manage investment accounts.
Statements
This is the area where you can you view your current statements and a six-month transactional history of
your accounts. You can also sort the transactions displayed in your statement and download them in
different formats.


Click on My accounts
Click on Statements on the top menu
Statements – view
You can view statements for all the accounts linked to your card.




Click on Statement
Select the account from the drop-down menu
Click on the View button
Your provisional statement will now display
Statements – sort
You are able to sort your statements by date and transaction type. They can also be sorted into debit and
credit types.








Click on Statement
Select the account from the drop-down menu
Click on the Sort button
On the new screen put in the dates you require
Choose your sort criteria
Choose your selection criteria
Click on Submit
You Sorted statement will now be displayed
Statements – transactional history
You are able to view a six-month transactional history of your accounts.






Click on Statement
Select the account from the drop-down menu
Click on the History button
On the new screen enter the dates you require
Click on submit
Your transactional history statement will display
Payments – pay now
Our payments feature allows you to make different kinds of payments. Before you can start paying your
accounts you have to load your beneficiaries’ account details to your profile. This can be done through the
My beneficiaries section on the left of the screen.
To make payments you must ensure that you have an electronic account payment (EAP) limit loaded to
your account. You can increase your EAP limit by calling or visiting your nearest branch.
The Pay now feature gives you the option to immediately pay your accounts. You can pay up to 10
beneficiaries at once.









Click on Payment
Click on Pay now in the sub-menu
Select the account from the drop-down menu
Enter the amount you need to pay next to the beneficiary’s name
You may pay up to 10 beneficiaries at once
Click on submit
Check the payment details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Check the status of your payment, if OK it has gone through. If your payment has Failed, mouse over
the message to see the reason why.
Payments – pay later
This feature enables you to make different kinds of payments. Before you can start paying your accounts
you have to load your beneficiaries’ account details to your profile. This can be done through the My
beneficiaries section on the left of the screen.
To make payments you must ensure that you have an electronic account payment (EAP) limit loaded to
your account. You can increase your EAP limit by calling or visiting your nearest branch.
The Pay later feature lets you set up payments up to 12 months into the future. You will need to make
sure that you have the specified amount in your account the day before the payment is due.










Click on Payment
Click on Pay later in the sub-menu
Select the account from the drop down menu
Enter the amount you need to pay next to the correct beneficiary
Enter the date you wish to pay the beneficiary by or use the calendar option to select a date
You may pay up to 10 beneficiaries at once
Click on submit
Check the payment details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Check the status of your payment, if OK it has gone through. If you payment has Failed, mouse over
the message to see the reason why.
Payments – repeat payment
This feature enables you to make different kinds of payments. Before you can start paying your accounts
you have to load beneficiaries’ details to your profile. This can be done through the My beneficiaries
section on the left of the screen.
To make payments you must ensure that you have an electronic account payment (EAP) limit loaded to
your account. You can increase your EAP limit by calling or visiting your nearest branch.
You also have the option to set up payments to various beneficiaries on a monthly, daily or weekly basis
up to 12 months in advance. You will need to make sure that the specified amount is in your account the
day before the payment is due.












Click on Payment
Click on Repeat payment in the sub-menu
Select the account from the drop down menu
Enter the amount you need to pay next to the correct beneficiary
Click on submit
Select the frequency of your payment either monthly, weekly or daily
Enter the start date of your repeat payment
Enter the end date of this repeat payment by either entering the date or the number of recurrences
Click on next
Check the payment details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Check the status of your payment, if OK it has gone through. If you payment has Failed, mouse over
the message to see the reason why.
Payments – manage payments
The manage payment feature enables you to view, amend and delete any future-dated or repeat
payments.




Click on Payment
Click on Manage payment in the sub-menu
A list of all your future dated payments will be shown
Select View, Amend or Delete next to the relevant beneficiary
Payments – Tertiary payments
This feature enables you to make payments to selected tertiary institutions. Just have your student
number handy.
 Click on Payment
 Click on Tertiary payment in the sub-menu
 Select the account from the drop-down menu
 Select the institution you want to pay
 Enter the amount you need to pay
 Enter your student number
 Click on submit
 Check the payment details on the confirmation screen
 Click on submit
 Check the status of your payment, if OK it has gone through. If it has Failed, mouse over the
message to see the reason why.
Transfer
You are able to transfer money between your own accounts linked to your card. For example, you are
able to transfer money from your current account to your credit card.








Click on Transfer
Select the account you want to transfer money from, from the drop-down menu
Select the account you want to transfer money into from the drop-down menu
Enter the amount you need to transfer
Click on submit
Check the transfer details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Check the status of your transfer
Overdraft
You are able to request to have your overdraft limit increased or decreased through Internet banking.
If accepted, the change is effective immediately.







Click on Overdraft
Select the account from the drop-down menu
Enter the amount by which you want to increase or decrease your overdraft
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
The result of your application will appear
Emailing of statements
You can have your statements for current and savings accounts securely emailed to you on a daily,
monthly or weekly basis, all you need to do is register for the service and download a decoder.
To register
 Click on Account management
 Select Email from the sub-menu
 Enter your email address
 Create a password that will be used to unlock your encrypted statement
 Select either statement or balance to be emailed to you
 Select the frequency
 Select the format in which you would like to receive your statement
 Select the operating system that your are using
 Click on submit
 Check the details on the confirmation screen
 Click on submit
 Confirmation of registration will appear on your screen.

Your email will then be sent to you as requested
Secure message
You are able to send secure messages to your branch. Your message could include a request for a new
chequebook or an electronic account payment limit increase.










Click on Account Management
Select Secure message from the sub-menu
Select account you want to transact from, for an electronic account payment limit increase you will
have to enter your card number
Enter your home telephone number
Enter your work telephone number
Type your message into the provided space
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Your message will be sent to your branch and your request will be actioned the next working day.
Stop payment
This feature enables you to stop payment on cheques and debit orders without visiting a branch.














Click on Account Management
Select Stop Payment from the sub-menu
Select account you want to transact from.
Enter your home telephone number
Enter your work telephone number
Enter the cheque or debit order numbers
Enter the amount
Enter the date of the cheque or debit order
Enter the beneficiary or payee name
Select a reason for the stop payment from the drop down menu
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Your message will be sent to your branch and they will then action it the next working day
Open investment accounts
You are able to open electronic fixed, notice and call deposit accounts through Internet banking. You can
view statements and transfer funds in and out of certain accounts. You will also be able to give, view and
cancel your notices as well as manage your investment accounts. Your new account will display 24 hours
after you have opened it.










Click on Investments
Select Open Account from the sub menu
Choose the investment type that suites you – notice, fixed or call deposit
Select account you want to transact from
Enter the amount you would like to invest
Complete the rest of the application form dependent on the investment type selected
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
Your investment account will display on your My accounts list 24 hours after opening it
My Beneficiaries
The My beneficiaries screen displays all beneficiaries linked to your card, this could include accounts to
be paid like municipality, retailers, friends and family. Once you have loaded these beneficiaries you can
immediately pay them. Your may link up to 99 different institutions and private beneficiaries to your card.
Add new company beneficiary
You are able to add companies to your list of beneficiaries using this feature. We have a list of companies
linked to our company deposit identifier (CDI), including municipalities, retailers, small companies and
government departments.














Click on My beneficiaries link on the left
Click the add new sub menu
Choose Company from the list
Type in the first few letters of the company you are searching for
Press search
A list of company names will appear, select the one you want to pay, if it is not on this list, you will
need to it as a private beneficiary
Click use company
The company name field will appear
Enter your reference in the My reference section
Enter the company reference number, this is what the company will see on its statement
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
This beneficiary will now be on your list
Add new private beneficiary
You are able to add private beneficiaries to your list, including people that bank with other banks. These
could be friends and family as well as small businesses not listed on our company directory index.

















Click on My beneficiaries link on the left
Click the add new sub menu
Choose Private from the list
Enter the name of the person or small company you are paying
Enter a reference number that will be displayed on their statement
Enter your reference in the My reference section
Select the financial institution from the drop-down list
Type in the name of the branch
Click Search
A list of branch names will appear, select the appropriate one
Click on use branch
The branch name and code fields will now be populated
Type in the account number
Click on submit
Check the details on the confirmation screen
Click on submit
This beneficiary will now be added to your list
Manage beneficiaries
You are able to view, amend and delete any of your beneficiaries.
 Click on My beneficiaries link on the left
 Click the manage sub menu
 Select view, amend or delete
 View shows you the beneficiary details as well as your last three payments
 Amend enables you to change beneficiary details immediately
 Delete enables you to remove the beneficiary from your list
CDI proposal
You can ask us to approach a company you would like to have listed on our company deposit identifier.
This is a list of bank-approved beneficiaries compiled and managed by us.
 Click on My beneficiaries on the left
 Click CDI Proposal
 Enter the name of the company
 Enter the contact name of a person at the company
 Enter the company’s street address
 Enter the company’s telephone number
 Enter your name
 Enter your home telephone number
 Enter your work telephone number
 Enter company’s name – Bobs Bakery
 Enter contact name – Bob the Baker
 Click on Submit
 Check the details on the confirmation screen
 Click on Submit
 These details will be sent to our CDI department who will action your request
My profile
The My Profile section is where we keep all your personal information, if there are any changes you can
make them here. This is also where you can change your charge account for Internet banking.
Troubleshooting - Reactivate
To reactivate your Internet banking logon you will need to go to a branch to have your ATM PIN reissued,
this will clear your invalid entries. Once that is completed go to the Internet banking logon page, click on
reactivate, start by entering your card number and ATM PIN. You will then need to re-create your
customer-selected PIN and password. Once this is completed you may logon Internet banking using you
new PINs and password
 Go to https://www.encrypt.standardbank.co.za
 Click on Reactivate
 Enter your card number
 Enter your ATM Pin
 Click on Reactivate
 Create a customer-selected PIN
 Enter a five-number PIN
 Reconfirm your PIN
 Click on Submit
 Click on Next
 Create a new password
 Enter between 6 and 16 characters – this must be a combination of alphabetical letters and
numbers
 Confirm your password
 Click on Submit
 Click on Next

