Congratulations!
You have been selected to play for Team Stars and Stripes in the
Tazon de Estrellas in Mexico on December 17th!
This is an 8-day football & cultural experience. You will travel to Mexico December 11th and return the 18th.
Much more information is available on the Global Football website: www.globalfootball.com, Tazon ’16 tab.
Very Important Details That Require Your Action A.S.A.P.
1. Confirm immediately that you have received this letter and accept the invitation to play.
[email protected]
2. Talk to your Head coach and family about funding this trip. The Global Football Foundation, a 501-C3 nonprofit corporation, can support players in this game through a tax free donation. If you know individuals,
organizations, clubs, college/university or foundations that would like to assist a player, contributions may be sent
to the GF Foundation. Contact: Don De Waard – Treasurer, Global Football Foundation 700 Main St. Suite 203
Pella, IA 50219 641-628-2246
NCAA rule allows your school to support this all-star experience up to $350. Ask your coach to look at NCAA
by-law 16.1 for details.
3. Cost. We continue to seek financial support to reduce costs for this experience. Expenses include: game jersey
(players keep), uniforms, apparel, liability insurance, airport transfers, double room accommodations for 7 nights,
all meals and beverages, 8 practices, local tours, daily local transport, team photo, game DVD and round trip
flight from the players nearest major airport to San Diego. From the time a player arrives in Mexico until they
arrive back in the USA, all customary expenses are covered. Total cost is $1300.

Booking your plane ticket and securing your roster spot requires a deposit of $500/player. Squad size is limited.
Roster spots and numbers are assigned based on the order that flights are booked. Final payment is due prior to
travel. Full payment can be made at any time prior to travel on December 11th. Deposit is non-refundable after
plane ticket has been purchased unless you have an officially documented injury or your team is playing in the
Stagg Bowl. All payments can be made through Naomi.
4. Get your passport. Be sure you have a valid passport. You can NOT travel to Mexico without one. You still
have time as it generally takes 4-6 weeks via normal service through your local post office, court house or on-line.
5. Check your health/accident insurance to be sure it will cover you in Mexico. We will have an athletic trainer and
physician with us on the trip, but you are responsible for your own medical expenses in the unlikely event
something happens.
6. SAFETY – You are aware of the recent safety concerns in many parts of Mexico. We have managed this event for
19 years, and understand what is needed to keep Team Stars and Stripes safe. This is an important reason we are
excited to play in Mexicali. It is a calm city southwest of San Diego, CA. We are being hosted by the top private
university system in Mexico and will be staying in a hotel close to a very secure university campus. University
security will take great care of our team. We will always travel on team buses, with local security and staff.
7. Family and Friends travel information is available on the Global Football website.

9. Final Exams: I am a college professor. If I need to proctor a final exam for you in Mexico, let me know. Your
professor can contact me directly if necessary. I have done this many times before.
With the honor of playing American football on an international stage comes the opportunity to represent your school,
Division III football, and your country. Team Stars & Stripes coaches and staff are eager to share this event with you. For
most of the players selected, this will be the last time they wear the gear. Many of the 800+ players we have worked with
in this game have been the best in NCAA Division III.
It requires great effort to put this trip together. It is very important that you pay attention to the details and reply promptly
when requested. Many documents must be assembled to facilitate travel to a foreign country, purchase plane tickets, book
hotel reservations, order equipment, etc. Details and timelines are critical. Please share this information, updates and the
Global Football website with parents, family, coaches and friends.
If you have questions about anything, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In 1997 I was invited to travel with Central College legendary football Coach Ron Schipper to work the original Tazon
Azteca as an athletic trainer. Over the course of the next 18 years, it has become a much anticipated event for me. The
opportunity to work with the best Division III football players over the years (many from your school) has been a
highlight in my career. The 2016 Tazon de Estrellas is sure to add to those memories. As the Director of Player
Personnel and Daily Football Operations, I am responsible for coordinating your experience. I am excited to work with
you to make this honor a valuable, fun and rewarding experience. I can guarantee you a memorable trip, and a very
special way to close out your college football career.

KEY POINTS
This game is the Tazon de Estrellas hosted by the CONADEIP Mexico University private schools system and Global
Football. This is NOT the Tazon Azteca.
This is an 8-day football and cultural experience. It is NOT a fly in, fly out, 3 day all-star game with hidden costs.
We use an officiating crew headed by legendary NCAA official Bill Lemonnier. He has worked this game many times
in Mexico, plus our events in Japan, Tanzania and World Championships.
We travel with a veteran support staff with many years of international experience and 19 previous trips to Mexico. Staff
includes: athletic trainers, team Doctor, SID, security, event management and select NCAA division III coaches.
You are welcome to share this information with interested teammates.
