Course Objectives: Apart from imparting the knowledge of the practical techniques and history of art it is essential to equip the students with the various thought processes
and ideas about the philosophy of Art. This course introduces the students to various approaches to thinking about art. Efforts will be put to see visual arts as a thinking
discipline
 Introducing students to the relevance of Aesthetic analysis
 Introducing the main schools of Indian Aesthetics
 In-depth study of theories of emotion (Rasa) and meaning (Dhwani) in India
Detailed study of Rasa-Dhwani of Abhinavagupta
Pre-requisites:
 Aesthetic sensibility
 Good imagination and analytical skills
 Sensitivity towards arts
