DMX 512:
DMX512 is an international standard supported by most manufactures of lighting
equipment for the entertainment industry. It is used to connect lighting controllers such
as the Starlet 12 to dimmers and other DMX512 controlled devices. It allows for up to
512 channels of control to be transmitted over a single twisted pair cable.
Basic rules in the use of DMX512:
1. Use correct cable (see specifications).
2. The cable must daisy chain from the first device to the next, then to the next and
so on. Tee or spur connections are not permitted (use a DMX electronic splitter).
3. The console such as the Starlet 12 must be at one end of the daisy chain.

level of the channel is at 0% - 95%. If the output level is at 95% -100% they flash the
channel to 0% (off). The mode is based on output level, which is affected by the
MASTER. The MASTER flash button flashes the MASTER. The flash buttons flash
channels to 100% or 0%.The flash buttons are not mastered by the CROSSFADER.
F
PARK ( button): Stores the live output levels as set by the Preset faders and their
MASTER in a memory store when pressed briefly. Output contributed from the flash
buttons is NOT stored. Previous states are over-written.
G
PARK (fader): Acts as a master over levels stored in the PARK store.Note this
operates upside down. 0% is up,100% is down.
EXAMPLE:
1) Connect the Starlet 12 to dimmers as per previous page.
2) Set MASTER fader at 100%(up), Preset faders 1-12 at 0%, PARK fader at 0% (up).
3) Push flash buttons above Preset faders. Channels will flash to 100%(full). Put the
Preset faders at 100%. Push flash buttons. Channels will flash to 0% (off).
4) Adjust the levels of dimmers 1-12 with faders 1-12 (setting them at various (levels).
Note that the MASTER fader acts as a master over all of them.
5) Push the PARK button briefly. The output is now stored in the PARK memory.
6) Set the MASTER fader to 0%. Move the PARK fader down to 100%. This fader controls
what is stored in the PARK memory.
7) Levels stored in the PARK store are controlled by the PARK fader and levels as set on
the Preset faders are controlled by the MASTER fader.
8) By moving the MASTER and PARK faders together (next to each other) you can fade
from the PARK memory to the preset fader levels and visa-versa.
9) To smoothly fade from one set of levels to another to another etc.
a) Set MASTER+PARK cross faders both in the up postion.
b) Set the first set of levels on the Preset faders.
c) Push PARK.
c) Move both crossfaders down. Set up new set of levels on preset faders (blind).
