These absorptive neutral density filters (unlike metallic filters) are manufactured
from a family of Schott glasses exhibiting various internal absorption coefficients.
By using three different glasses (each with a unique absorption) that have spectrally
flat absorption coefficients and by differing the filter thicknesses, we are able to
manufacture a progressively more absorptive series of neutral density filters. All data
provided in the tables below is specified at 546nm.

Thorlabs sells the Ø1" absorptive neutral density filters premounted in
an engraved SM1 lens tube with a clear aperture of Ø0.9". The engraved
information includes the part number and the optical density of the
filter. The premounted filters are easy to incorporate into an optical
setup by using any of the SM1 threaded optomechanical mounts sold by
Thorlabs, and the housing greatly simplifies the handling of the optic.
The SM1 lens tube mounts can also be screwed together to form a filter
stack. In addition, the SM1 threading is a feature on many of the
detectors and power meters made by Thorlabs, which makes it easy to
mount a filter directly in front of the detector. With the filter mounted
directly to the front of the detector, the lens tube blocks the light that is
not going through the filter from reaching the detector.

TRF90
The TRF90 Filter Mount combines versatility in a compact, easy-to-operate design. The TRF90
can be post mounted as an individual unit or ER-rod mounted for stacking filters in a series.
A precision detent mechanism provides holding force at the 0° and 90° positions while
convenient nylon-tipped locking setscrews are provided for more substantial securing force.
