These coaches have further ensured that each Child in Key Stage Two (Year
3 – Year 6) has timetabled within the curriculum for 2 Hours Physical
Education each week.
As well as this both coaches support and offer a wide range of sports clubs.
The sports clubs are advertised on the school website, and by the calendar

All Year 5 & 6 Pupils get the chance to Lead, Manage and Officiate school
sports games during their PE lessons. We often have Intra Sport (Level 1)
Competitions in our lessons.
Competitions.
In school our funding has allowed us to run lots of Intra School Sports Competitions each
term. We run House tournament and Intra Year Group / Class tournaments at the end of
each scheme of work. This Year we have had a House Football, House Rugby League,
House Cricket and House Hockey tournaments (See Attached Results) as well as Netball,
Rounders, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Handball and Dodgeball Tournaments as an
end of term recap for each sport.
From all these Intra School events we compete in the Rochdale Borough School Games
Partnership and Middleton School Sports Associations events throughout the year and
compete in: - Football (boys and girls), Rugby League, Dodgeball, Gymnastics, Cricket,
Rounders, Netball (7-a-side and High 5), Basketball, Tri Golf, Hockey (Quicksticks and
field) and Athletics (Sportshall and Track)
In a number of competitions we have been able to field ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams in Inter School
Events.

Promotion
To ensure our spending is transparent The school sends out regular PE Newsletters to
the parents updating them about sporting events / success as well as the school website
being updated weekly and the School Games pages being maintained with the correct
information and blogs. (See letters and Screen shots)
We also update Twitter on a weekly / daily basis.
Sports Leaders
House Captains and Playground Pals help with running / officiating /timekeeping the
Lower Key Stage Two, Key Stage One and Foundation Stage Sports Days.
We used our Year 6 Sports Leaders (16) for the Lower Key Stage Two event, and they
helped in the smooth running of this.
We used our Year 6 Pupils (12) for the Key Stage One event.
We used Year 6 Pupils (12) for the Reception Sports Day and a further 10 Year 5’s over
the 2 Nursery Sports Days.
School Sports Ambassadors meet to discuss sport at the school and what they would like
to see in the future with ways in which it can be improved.
Sports Ambassadors
We have used funding to source training for our 5 Sports Ambassadors (School Games
Crew) that work with the School staff to organise, arrange, officiate and pass on ideas
about school sport and PE.
They meet with the School Council and come up with ideas to benefit the school.
Sports Leaders
We have 16 Year 5 & 6 Pupils trained in the Playground Leaders Award ran by RBSGP /
Cardinal Langley. These Young Leaders training has allowed the school to run lunch
times sessions for Key Stage One / Lower Key Stage Two. Also in helping / running our
Sports Day for Key Stage One, Reception and Nursery.
Outside Sports Coaches Providers
During the School Year we have utilised many sports coaches / organisations
Fit 4 U Sports Coaching
Rochdale Hornets
Sophie Elliot Dance
Rochdale Football in the Community
The Tesco FA Skills Coach
Link for Life
Lancashire County Cricket Club
Each one of these creates strong links with a number of different clubs where our pupils
see the coaches in school or hear about them. From that our pupils get the opportunity
to take part in the club events / sessions after and before school and on weekends. So
increasing their participation in a healthy active lifestyle.
.
Gifted and Talented Children.
At present we don’t have any talented young pupils in our school that would need
support, but when the time arrives, we are more than willing to offer any additional
help we can as a school to that person using any funding that remains .
Be it support; help sourcing funding, time allowed to travel to sporting events / training.
Also if we see any child that could progress further in outside sports then we look at
avenues to send them in the right direction.
The school has good knowledge of the local area, and sporting opportunities out there
as to help further a pupils sport’s needs.
This year we have sign posted a young pupil to a Professional Sports Team for a trial
after his performances in school and school sports.
