Sports Leaders House Captains and Playground Pals help with running / officiating /timekeeping the Lower Key Stage Two, Key Stage One and Foundation Stage Sports Days. We used our Year 6 Sports Leaders (16) for the Lower Key Stage Two event, and they helped in the smooth running of this. We used our Year 6 Pupils (12) for the Key Stage One event. We used Year 6 Pupils (12) for the Reception Sports Day and a further 10 Year 5’s over the 2 Nursery Sports Days. School Sports Ambassadors meet to discuss sport at the school and what they would like to see in the future with ways in which it can be improved. Sports Ambassadors We have used funding to source training for our 5 Sports Ambassadors (School Games Crew) that work with the School staff to organise, arrange, officiate and pass on ideas about school sport and PE. They meet with the School Council and come up with ideas to benefit the school. Sports Leaders We have 16 Year 5 & 6 Pupils trained in the Playground Leaders Award ran by RBSGP / Cardinal Langley. These Young Leaders training has allowed the school to run lunch times sessions for Key Stage One / Lower Key Stage Two. Also in helping / running our Sports Day for Key Stage One, Reception and Nursery. Outside Sports Coaches Providers During the School Year we have utilised many sports coaches / organisations Fit 4 U Sports Coaching Rochdale Hornets Sophie Elliot Dance Rochdale Football in the Community The Tesco FA Skills Coach Link for Life Lancashire County Cricket Club Each one of these creates strong links with a number of different clubs where our pupils see the coaches in school or hear about them. From that our pupils get the opportunity to take part in the club events / sessions after and before school and on weekends. So increasing their participation in a healthy active lifestyle. . Gifted and Talented Children. At present we don’t have any talented young pupils in our school that would need support, but when the time arrives, we are more than willing to offer any additional help we can as a school to that person using any funding that remains . Be it support; help sourcing funding, time allowed to travel to sporting events / training. Also if we see any child that could progress further in outside sports then we look at avenues to send them in the right direction. The school has good knowledge of the local area, and sporting opportunities out there as to help further a pupils sport’s needs. This year we have sign posted a young pupil to a Professional Sports Team for a trial after his performances in school and school sports.
