About VOCA-VR
VOCA-VR was established in 2012 with one mission, to help those who are managing physical
and mental health difficulties so that they can overcome barriers to employment. Our team
consists of highly trained professionals with years of experience both in the public and private
sectors. VOCA-VR prides itself on providing exceptional support to individuals and organisations
with personalised and client-centred interventions. At VOCA-VR we believe that everyone has
the right to employment and also believe that work is an important part of the rehabilitation
and recovery process.
At VOCA-VR we offer a comprehensive range of interventions which include identifying practical
solutions to individual and organisational problems. We utilise evidenced-based interventions
and strategies to address the psychological and social barriers which prevent clients from
moving forward and fulfilling an inclusive and independent life. We look at improving
motivation, condition management, as well as help to access employment. We pride ourselves
on our holistic and individual approach to claimants, clients and referrers. VOCA-VR
understands the importance of early intervention in reducing the risk of costly long term
workplace absence. Encouraging open communication between all parties is the key to
preventing the individual from becoming disassociated from the workplace.
About Our Team
The company is solely owned and managed by Jane Butcher. With Jane are two experienced assessors and
another in the process of being trained to undertake telephone assessments and follow up interventions.
The Company plans to take on another assessor in the middle of 2016 and again in 2017 as demand may
require.
Jane Butcher – Director
Jane Butcher comes from a medical nursing
background. For several years she specialised in
all aspects of Cardiology.
She is also a UKCP registered psychotherapeutic
counsellor, is a member of the VRA and also CMSUK.
Following completion of further studies, Jane worked
as a Condition Management advisor for Shaw Trust
in Norwich, leaving in 2012 to set up her own
business. Jane has extensive experience working
with individuals who are managing their health
conditions and who are encountering barriers to
work. Her background in rehabilitation work led to a
special interest in the physical, psychological and
social difficulties associated with managing a health
condition or disability. Jane has undertaken a
considerable number of telephonic bio-psychosocial
as well as face to face assessments. In addition, Jane
has provided post assessment interventions
Employment, Condition Management, Light Touch
and Counselling Support as required by the referrer.

psychological elements.
health conditions.
Telephonic Health Assessment
Our independent telephone service consists of a ‘bio-psychosocial’ assessment to identify the individual’s
current health, functional status and barriers to a return to work. A comprehensive report is produced with
suggested recommendations following best practice and clinical guidelines. All our recommendations are
time bound and individually geared, to help the individual effectively manage their condition and return to
employment.
Case Management
We provide individualised, active case management for those who may need ‘light-touch’ support to
overcome barriers to employment, help manage their health condition and improve function. We will liaise
with all parties associated with each case, including employers. We continually update the Referrer by
telephone, or other preferred means of contact to discuss the progress of the referral and offer further
advice and support. A comprehensive range of interventions provided by our team can be viewed at
www.voca-vr.co.uk, or alternatively contact us for a personalised consultation via e-mail or telephone.
Workplace Mediation
Workplace disputes can not only be financially damaging for organisations but have an adverse effect on
staff morale and productivity. Lost time due to forced sickness absence, the cost and aggravation of invoking
disciplinary or grievance procedures are all things that firms can do without. During mediation, we work to
ensure that each party is able to explore their underlying issues, needs, goals and expectations. We apply a
structured approach to help the parties listen to one another and we support them as they identify areas of
commonality and difference.

What can clients expect when we make contact?
Upon receiving a referral VOCA-VR will
acknowledge receipt and advise the referrer
as to which member of the team will be
responsible for the case.
After receiving a referral, we aim to make
contact the named individual within 7
working days and arrange to complete an
personalised assessment at a time convenient
to them. During this session our professional
advisors work collaboratively with the
individual to identify the person’s current
health status and identify actual or perceived
obstacles to employment. Following this
assessment we complete a detailed report
which will include recommendations for
further support if required. We can then
offer such support services or flag up any
outside support services if relevant. We offer
to work with all parties including clients,
employers, health care and other agencies to
achieve resolution. Our aim is to achieve
satisfactory and cost effective interventions
which result in sustained employment
outcomes and thus improve the quality of life
for the individual. Once the assessment is
completed we aim to provide a full report
within 15 working days of the assessment.
No further action will be taken on the case
until we hear from the referrer with
authorisation to proceed.
If further
interventions are sanctioned, we undertake
to maintain contact with the referrer keeping
them up to date with progress.
