ABOUT THIS JOB: Our Technical Producers are responsible for working in tandem with the Sales/Design/Warehouse team in our Event Production Department, and primarily for translating a high volume of contracted event sales into fully executed designs by way of Vectorworks plotting and database driven warehouse pick/pack/pull lists. This office-based position is responsible for the immaculate pre-production of all events, creating a detailed design schematic and generating a pull list built for ease of installation by an external on-site field crew. This position requires a base knowledge of the special events industry and production/design elements of Lighting, Audio, Video, Drape, & Staging. This is not merely a CAD job, as it involves many (MANY) more moving pieces and parts in a fast-paced, last minute, and ever-changing industry. This position also requires a creative thinker, fast worker, and highly organized problem solver who understands special events, production, electrics, inventory tracking, equipment, installation methodology, design methodology, and understanding the entire event picture from sale to executed end result. The core of the Technical Producer role is to understand the vision of the clients and translate that vision onto paper so it can be flawlessly executed and understood by the warehouse and on-site field teams. Event scopes range anywhere from extremely basic wedding designs, to large scale galas, concerts and general sessions, and everything in between. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: • Produce scale design plots and/or un-scaled schematics for events using Vectorworks, inclusive of lighting, audio, video, drape, and staging. • • • • • • • • • • • • • Produce and generate Warehouse pick/pack/pull lists, sub-rental orders, and coordinate all required materials and supplies for each event. Make constant corrections and revisions to floor plans and pull lists as dictated by last minute changes, sales teams changes, or client demands. Produce client requested mockup floor plans, schematics, samples, or renderings as needed for events during the bidding/sales process. Produce pick/pack/pull lists for rental orders. Communicate constantly with Warehouse staff and management for clear and proper warehouse orders, acting as a vital resource or beacon for the warehouse for questions about each event. Act as a beacon for the on-site field team for questions about designs and plots, finding creative troubleshooting or other solutions for crew in case of emergencies, confusion or problems on-site. Assist with testing media, responding to clients as needed, and creating AV or Staging Plots and diagrams on AV heavy events. Assist with creating more basic, standardized template/designs of floor plans and pull lists of repeat and common venues. Attend weekly production meetings to discuss upcoming events, production needs, and address production challenges in advance of each design. Attend crew pre-production meetings as needed with salesperson and field staff when applicable, to discuss the design and approach, clarifying approaches on complex events, and revising designs as needed during and after meetings. Act as a resource for sales and office team in solving event installation challenges, questions, electrical constraints, design constraints, proper approaches and methodology. Work closely with co-vendors and venues to procure vital structural data that affects how sales, production, and field teams should approach designs. Additional duties and tasks as assigned, and as role develops. Work as needed and directed WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: • • • • • • • • • • • 3-5 years of experience in theatre, event production, and/or special events OR 1 year at Got Light. Advanced knowledge of Lighting, Audio, Visual, & Production required. Filemaker Database and CAD/Vectorworks knowledge is a plus. This position requires a valid driver’s license. Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area market, venues, and players is a huge plus. AV technical training/certification OR Freelance/Master Electrician experience is preferable. A Minimum of an Associate's Degree, CMEP, or other such related degree, technical training, or certification. We are a Mac environment, and you should be proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Email, and database programs. Possess the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form required. Experience in working in a fast-paced environment, with movement from task to task. Must be willing to work long days, weekends, and holidays. WHAT WE OFFER: • • • • This is a Full-time exempt position. Salary is based on work experience.
