Round Robin Rotation and Scoring See Rotation Sheet for total number of games to be played per player (four or five). The total number of games required to complete the entire round robin rotation will depend on the number of players. The approximate time required to complete the event is displayed on the Rotation Sheet and again, depends on the number of players. The time is based on using two courts only when there are eight players or more. How the Rotation Works – Each player is assigned a number randomly. After the player draws his/her number, write the name next to the corresponding number on the score sheet. This is their ‘player number’ for the duration of the event. Follow the rotation chart for TOTAL number of players listed on the score sheet. There are a few situations where at the end of the rotation there are only ONE or TWO players who have not completed their final game, so we need to determine who they will play with or against. EXAMPLE: Look at the 10 player rotation schedule. At the end of the rotation players number 7 and 10 have only played four games, while everyone else has completed five games. Players number 1, 2, 8 and 9 are the four players that the 7 and 10 have played the ‘least’ number of games with or against during the rotation. Randomly select two of those players to play with the 7 and the 10. After the game only record the score for the 7 and 10 players. You can stop here and total up all scores to determine your winners. OR You can total up all the scores and have the top four teams move on for the Championship Game played to 15 points. The player with the highest score and the player with the lowest score partner against the remaining two. How to Keep Score At the completion of each game, post the results for each player. For each player that won enter “W” under the game number, and next to the win enter the point spread ( If the final score of the game was 11-6, the spread would “5”, since they won by 5 points). For the losing team enter the number of points they scored in the game. Using the above example, you would record “6” for each player. When all the games are completed, total across for each player, entering the number of W (wins) in the win column, and the number of points in the Point Column. The player with the most number of wins is Ranked #1. The player with the next highest number of wins is Ranked #2 and so on. If there is a tie with the number of wins, the tie breaker is the number of Points. The highest number of points is the winner. If both the wins and the points are the same, the tie breaker is the numbers you recorded for the spread. The player with the highest total spread is the winner. If you are moving on to the Championship Game – Take the top four and play the Championship Game. Add the wins and points to the scores you already have posted to determine your final top four players. They will probably NOT be the same order as when they started the Championship Game.
