About the NSCD:
The National Sports Denver for the Disabled (NSCD) enables the human spirit through therapeutic recreation and sport.
Each year more than 3,200 children and adults with disabilities participate in our programs to improve the quality of
their lives. With specially trained staff, a custom adaptive equipment lab and over 1,200 volunteers, the NSCD provides
therapeutic recreation through a variety of winter and summer sports and activities to individuals with almost any
physical, cognitive, emotional and/or behavioral diagnosis. Year-round programming is based out of Winter Park Resort
and Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Position Overview:
The NSCD CEO is a demonstrated visionary; a strategic leader with the highest levels of integrity and authenticity, who is
passionate about and committed to the NSCD mission. The CEO is an inclusive leader, respectful and engaged with a
collaborative management style and a proactive focus on results and opportunities.
The CEO serves as head fundraiser for the non-profit 501(c)(3),and oversees NSCD operations in Winter Park and on
Colorado’s Front Range. The CEO is accountable to the NSCD Board of Trustees (“Board”) for strategic planning, setting
and achieving performance targets, and financial management including service delivery, fundraising/revenue, and
expense targets and employee performance.

Fundraising/Revenue Generation: Foremost organizational responsibility for achieving NSCD revenue and
fundraising goals. Develops and grows adequate and more numerous sources of financial support to the
organization.
Workforce Management and Operational Excellence: Responsible for inspiring and leading the NSCD leadership
team and staff, and ensuring exceptional levels and qualifications of staff and volunteers.
Targets and Goals: Responsible for delivery of overall targets/goals of the organization, and for strategic and
operational management/oversight of NSCD.
External Relationships & Partnerships: Build strong relationships with key organizations, community leaders,
participants and their families, and volunteers, and cultivates partnerships.
Visibility and Local/National Relevance: Responsible for ensuring strong visibility for the NSCD locally and
nationally. Increases community awareness, participation, and commitment.
Service Delivery: Ensures consistent, responsive and safe delivery of high-quality programs and services, and
measurement of performance outcomes.

Strategic Planning: Responsible for development of strategic plan in close collaboration with Board.
Education and Experience Required:

·
Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degrees are strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong track record of personal and professional
integrity and accomplishments.
At least seven years of executive level experience in fundraising including a substantial track record of
cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors; campaign experience in capital or comprehensive
campaigns; and working knowledge of planned giving.

Passion for and capability in skiing or snowboarding preferred due to alpine and Nordic program emphases and
time requirements in Winter Park.
Experience in leading growing fundraising functions and enhancing their effectiveness and results.
Proven experience in building relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with, and inspire the trust of staff and various internal and
external constituents including donors.
Excellent management skills; ability to lead through teamwork and cooperation.
Working knowledge of capital campaign and planned giving strategies.
Experience in working with, training and motivating a Board of Trustees to achieve significant fundraising
results
Experience as a volunteer or professionally serving the disabled community
Skill in developing a vision for the function and engaging staff members in translating that vision into action.
Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle difficult, sensitive situations and relationships.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to recognize change and manage a growing organization.
Flexible with days and hours of work, based on NSCD needs.

Auditory and visual acuity to interact with guests, sponsors, donors and clients on a daily basis.
Able to work for long periods of time without break during the conduct of presentations and events.

Able to work outside year round in varying conditions.
Able to successfully manage multiple, high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must meet background check criteria regarding clearance to drive the NSCD vehicles.
