Rangiora New Life School A Ministry of Gateway New Life Church Rangiora te Oranga Hou te Kura Term 2, Week 3 2016 Denchs Rd, Rangiora 7400 t:. (03) 313 6332 f: (03) 313 6237 19 May 2016 e: [email protected] Dear friends We have had an outstanding turnout to the recent Secondary Parent / Student / Teacher interviews. The parents I spoke with at these evenings were very positive about the report meetings and their children’s progress. I have been inspired by the senior students and the presentations they have made to get all students involved in the 40 Hour Famine. They have a clear goal, identified and broken down into manageable chunks, a plan to achieve the target and with regular checks on progress reporting they measure how close they are to the goal. www.rnls.school.nz What’s On? TERM 2 20-21 May Yr 13 Tramp Fri 20 May Rms 4, 5, 6 Swimming Lessons @ Dudley Tues 24 May Primary Cross Country Yrs 0-4 @ RNLS 11.30—12.30 Yrs 5-8 @ Southbrook Park 9.30—11.00 This process mirrors the learning processes that the school engages in at all levels— encompassed by the report evenings. Students have clear targets, that are broken down into manageable chunks, they work on a plan with their teachers to achieve their targets and the reports that the school produces, along with other feedback during the year, shows how close they are to achieving the target, whether that be in reading, writing, numeracy, NCEA or other targets where the process is similar. Wed 25 May Student Council Meeting Reps Yrs 5-13 So whether it be the 40 Hour Famine, or the key targets (from last years results) I know that the school, with the direction of the teachers, the work of the students and the support of the parents, extraordinary things are possible whether it be in learning or the raising of money for the 40 Hour Famine. Fri 27 May Rms 4, 5, 6 Swimming lessons @ Dudley and Trampolining at ICE Fri 27 May World Vision Mufti Day (gold coin donation) ‘Captured’ 1st year anniversary!
