AMVETS
Past Department Commanders’ Continued Education Grant Application
ELIGIBILITY – Applicants must:
A. Be a son, daughter, or grandchild of a member of AMVETS, AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary or
Sons of AMVETS in good standing.
B. Have been accepted to a post-high school institution for skill development or degree study
program.
REQUIREMENTS – Applicants must:
A. Submit a paper of not more than 300 words but not less than 200 about themselves and
include achievements, career and educational objectives, and future goals.
B. Provide 3 letters of recommendations (family members excluded).
C. Enclose a copy of their high school senior year transcript or most recent year college,
university, or trade school transcript.
D. Complete the application.
SUBMISSION
A. The completed application and accompanying documents must be submitted to the sponsor or
AMVETS post that issued the application.
B. The sponsor or AMVETS post is responsible for ensuring application completeness and
forwarding the application to the Past Department Commanders’ no later than the May
Department Executive Committee meeting.
C. The amount of the grant will vary based upon application quality, number of applications, and
grant funds currently available.
