PROJECT BRENNTAG, DUISBURG
Maximum efficiency and safety
for chemical products
In its capacity as general contractor, SSI Schäfer
developed and implemented a high bay warehouse
with some 10,000 pallet storage locations for
Brenntag AG, the leading German chemicals
distributor.
Not an ordinary task since, in addition to the
requirements on efficient warehouse logistics,
the comprehensive constructional and technical
guidelines for the handling of chemical products
had to be met – and all this within the framework
of a 40 m high warehouse complex. Further substantial requirements on throughput speed, pallet
control, and warehouse management resulted in
the core task of the company: to satisfy the trend
in the chemicals industry towards tailor-made
products and the resulting small batch sizes
– with ever shorter delivery times and appropriate
stockpiling.
