The month of April sheds light on many awareness
issues and causes. The knowledge and information
that this bring often unites and strengthens
individuals.
Throughout the month, organizations like the
American Public Health Association (APHA)
encourage communities across the United States to
recognize and observe National Public Health Week
(Apr. 4th-10th) as a time to educate people across
our nation about a specific issue related to a yearly
theme and develop prevention and public
awareness campaigns.
This year in conjunction with Public Health Week,
the World Health Organization (WHO) has chosen
Diabetes to be their platform for advocacy on World
Health Day which falls on April 7th.
Spring Quarter SRC
Pool Hours:
April also serves as an awareness month for stress.
During this annual month long campaign, health promoters
and care professionals
join together to increase
the public’s knowledge
and awareness regarding
the causes and cures for
stress. Some key issues
include:
the
dangers,
coping strategies and
misconceptions about stress in our society.
Stress
management is a vital skill individuals need to have a
positive balance between work, home and personal
relationships. Once your stress trigger has been identified,
strategies for coping can be developed.
You can learn more information about stress causes and
management strategies by contacting either your local physician
or by visiting helpful websites such as www.stress.org

Health and
wellness programs
do not always
have to involve a
regimented daily
fitness routine but
should include any
kind of sustained
physical activity that is enjoyable to each individual.
In an effort to encourage physical activity in a fun
and unique way the Recreational Sports and Athletic
Facilities Office has developed a Student Olympics
Week open to all Rose-Hulman students occurring
April 11-14th from 6-8pm each evening. The
scheduled activities will include, Human Hungry
Hippos, Water Balloon Volleyball, Adult Tricycle
Races and an Indoor Obstacle Course.
Please join us each evening to either enjoy
participation or just enjoy the fun competitive
atmosphere.
