base (place pineys at 3rd base so they can get them before starting their second round).
-Any foul ball= 1 OUT
-5 outs per inning
-If a student is running from 3rd to 1st, they must touch homeplate, but cannot stop there.
**If they touch home, the student is FORCED to continue to 1st base regardless of how
close a play is, but if they do NOT touch home, they can choose to go back to 3rd.
-Homerun= Yellow and above on the back wall
-If the ball hits the ceiling before the middle of the gym, it is a foul ball.
-If the ball hits the ceiling after the midline, it’s fair.
-Any ball caught in mid air is an out.
-If a player is hit below the shoulders and is not on a base, he/she is out.
-If a player is running to a base and the outfielders beat them there with the ball, they are out.
4
KICKBALL
Equipment Needed: 4 Bases, Scoreboard, Volleyball
-4 foul balls = OUT

a base, he/she is out.
-If a player is forced to a base and is running there,
the outfielders can beat them there with the ball to
get the player out.
-If a player is running to a base and is not forced (no runners are behind them causing them to
run) they have to be tagged to get out.
BADMINTON
Equipment Needed:
Badminton Nets and Poles, Birdies,
Badminton Racquets
-1st server of the game (for each team) is
done from the RIGHT side of the court.
5
-Rotate sides when you score a point and the same partner serves the birdie until possession
is lost.
-When you lose possession and REGAIN it, the birdie starts with the initial server(server 1)
on whichever side she is on.
-After server 1 messes up or a fault is made for the team, server 2 gets a serve before the
team’s -possession is lost.
-Play to 11 points with a lead of 2. If you are not up by 2 points, keep playing until that
occurs.
PICKLEBALL

bounce before returning it (1) and the serving team must do the same (2). After the
rule has been met, either team may use a bounce to return the ball –OR- volley it over
the net.
Rotate sides when you score a point and the same partner serves the birdie until
possession is lost.
When you lose possession and REGAIN it, the birdie starts with the initial
server(server 1) on whichever side she is on.
*After server 1 messes up or a fault is made for the team, server 2 gets a serve

-Divide class into 6 teams
-Each girl will race to the opposite end of the gym doing a designated movement (#’d 1-8)
before they give the scooter to the next teammate in line.
-After all the teammates go, they should flip the scooter over to make it easier to determine
the winner for each round.
-Let the teams pick a #1-8 to determine what movement to do for the round. Each # is only
done one time per class so that all movements are done.
-Movements:
1.) On your butt facing forward
2.) On your butt facing backward
3.) Sideways

KNOCKOUT
Equipment Needed: Two basketballs for every hoop used, basketball hoops
-Players line up single file at the free throw line. The
first two players in line each get a basketball.
-The first player shoots. If he/she makes it, he/she
throws the ball to the next person standing in line and
goes to the back of the line. If he/she misses it, he/she rebounds the ball and attempts to
score a basket as quickly as possible.
-The second player shoots the ball after the first player makes the shot or his/her ball hits the
rim. If he/she sinks the basket before the first player, he/she throws the ball to the next
person in line and goes to the back of the line.
-At that point, the first player has been knocked out and is no longer part of the game.
-The object of knockout is to knock out the player in front of you and continue until you are
the last player standing.
ULTIMATE FOOTBALL
Equipment Needed: Pineys, Football, Scoreboard, 4 Cones (to mark off enzones)
-Pass the ball down the field/court to score in the endzone.

can count.
10
-Anytime the ball touches the floor, the 3 pass minimum starts over.
-Cannot take the ball out of another player’s hands, but you can intercept a pass.

point made.
ULTIMATE FRISBEE
Equipment Needed: Pineys, Frisbee, Scoreboard, 4 Cones (to mark off enzones)
-Pass the frisbee down the field/court

BIG BALL (Laying down version)
Team 1
Team 2
Mats
Equipment Needed: Omnikin (big) Ball, Omnikin Pump, String (to tie the ball), 2 Mats,
Scoreboard
-One team lays on the mats in a circle shape with their heads towards the center
-The other team stands facing inward in a circle around the mats/team 1
-The outer team serves the ball by throwing it over the circle.
-The center team can kick the ball to try to make it hit the ground
-The outside team is responsible for keeping the ball in the air
-There are no double hits for the standing team (one person cannot touch the ball two
consecutive times)
-The ball cannot hit the floor
-If the ball hits the walls or bleachers, play it.
-Anytime the ball hits the ground or the outside team has a double hit, the team on the mat
gets a point.
-Only the team on the mat can score, so rounds should be divided evenly to give each team
the same amount of time to score.
*Play 5-minute rounds and rotate.
-I usually get 2-4 5-minute rounds in, then divide the reminding time up to give
each team the same chance to score.
12
BIG BALL (Standing version)
Team 1’s Mat->
<- Team 2’s Mat
Gymnasium
Equipment Needed: Omnikin (big) Ball, Omnikin Pump, String (to tie the ball), Scoreboard
-Teams score by getting the ball to the opposite end of the gym’s blue mat that is attached to
the wall.
-Students can do anything they prefer (kick, push, volley) to get the ball down the field/court,
but they cannot grab the ball by the fabric or physically carry the ball.
-Every time the ball touches the mat, the team gets a point and possession of the ball goes to
the team that did not score.
Volleyball Poles
WALLY BALL
Volleyball Nets
Equipment needed: Volleyball poles (3), Volleyball nets (2), Volleyball (1), Scoreboard
-Nets are set up halfway up the volleyball pole (about 4-5 feet off of the ground) and spread
the entire width of the gymnasium.
-There are no boundaries; the entire gymnasium is the playing area.
-The serves of the game are done by throwing the ball from the back line of the volleyball
court.
-As the ball is received, teams can let it bounce one time in between every person that
touches it.
13
-There is no limit of hits that can be done amongst a team in order to get the ball back over
the net.
-There are no double hits (one person cannot consecutively touch the ball two times)
-If the ball hits the wall, bleachers, or basketball hoops, that bounce does not count against
the team.
-If the ball gets caught in the bleachers, the team can pick it up and play it by dropping and
hitting it.
-If the ball bounces on the floor or ceiling to go over the net, the other team gets a point (the
ball must be contacted by a player to successfully count as going over the net.
-If the ball is hit by a player and touches the ceiling on their side, the play can continue
-If the ball is hit by a player and goes over the net to touch the other team’s ceiling, the other
team gets a point.
FOUR SQUARE

Each player stands in one of the four squares.

To start the game, the player in square four serves the ball by bouncing it in their
square once and then hitting it towards one of the other squares.
The receiving player then hits the ball to any other player in one of the other squares.
14

The ball must bounce in another player's square, and they must hit it to another player
before it bounces a second time.

A player may hit the ball before it bounces, if they choose to do so.

If a player hits the ball so that it misses another player's square, or fails to hit the
ball before the second bounce after it has landed in their square, they are "out".

When a player is out, the other players move up to take their place, and that player moves
to the last square, or to the end of the line, if there are more than four players.

The object of the game is to move up to and hold the server's position.
CO-ED DAY
-Co-Ed days allow students to participate in any activity they choose. They may also make up
previously missed classes (They will give you a completed slip when they do so. Please keep all
slips submitted together and I will document them on Monday.)
-Us teachers rotate throughout the two gyms and monitor the different activities taking place. If
you’re in the small gym, you’ll referee whichever game the students are playing for that period.
The games may vary throughout the day.
NATURAL DISASTER
Equipment Needed: 3 Large Mats, Open Space
Hurricane: Find and hug a partner
Tornado: Spin
Forest Fire: Down and Roll (Covering Eyes)
Earthquake: Drop to the ground
Blizzard: Stop and freeze in whatever position you’re in
Flood: Go to the mats- with only a few people left, use only the center mat
Tsunami: Balance on 1 foot with your hands above your head
Mats
Volleyball Court
15
*The students travel around the volleyball court while doing the given mode of transmission
(walking, sliding, jogging, side step, etc.). When a given pose is called, the students must
complete the required action. The last person(s) to perform the action is out and must walk the
perimeter of the gymnasium for the remainder of that round. *Vary the time in between the
called poses.
16
FIREMAN
Equipment Needed: Open Space
PARTNER 2’s (Facing outward)
PARTNER 1’s (Facing inward)
The students get a partner to participate with. Partner 1 faces inward around the circle in the middle of
the gym with all other Partner 1’s. Partner 2 joins all other Partner 2’s and forms a circle on the outside
of the other circle, facing outward (their back’s are towards the Partner 1 circle.
-Each circle rotates to their right. The Partner 1 circle has their eyes closed as they rotate and has their
hands joined with one another.
-When a pose is called, the partner pairs have to find one another and complete the pose in the correct
form. The last group to complete the pose is “out”. The circles then begin to rotate again. The objective
of the game is to be the last partner pair in the game.
*When a group is out, they may come over and help choose the next called pose. Afterward,
they must walk the perimeter of the gymnasium to stay moving for the remainder of the current game.
After a winner is declared, you may begin the game again.
Poses:
Fireman-one partner is on all fours (knees and hands) and the other partner goes on their hands and knees
on their partner’s back
Monkey on my tree- One partner stands with their legs straddled and their hands in the air (tree), while
the other partner wraps her legs around the other’s leg and makes monkey noises.
Santa I want a pony- One partner kneels down with one knee out (to act as a chair) as she strokes her
“beard” (Santa). The other partner sits on the other’s knee while begging for a pony.
Indian in my teepee- One partner stands with legs straddled and hands together above her head (teepee)
as the other partner lays between her feet on her belly while making an Indian noise.
Flamingo- Each partner wraps their knee (either both right or both left) around the other’s, and the same
elbow around the other’s then jump around in a circle together.
Piggy Back- One partner jumps on the other’s back
Cradle- One partner cradle’s the other like a baby.
Wheelbarrow- One partner stands while grabbing the other’s feet as she puts her hands on the ground to
support herself.
17
FOUR CORNERS
EQUIPMENT:
-Hula Hoop (8)
jail
jail
-Cones (16)
-Playground Balls(8)
jail
jail
*Each team starts with two playground balls in their area’s hula hoop.
*When the round starts, the objective is for the players to try to grab the opponent’s playground ball and
bring it to their home hoop.
-Only one ball can be taken at a time
-The ball must be picked up by the person taking it (cannot be kicked out of the hoop,
swatted with the person’s hand, or thrown to another teammate).
*Each team can have ONE DEFENDER
-If the defender tags a person coming into their coned territory, the person goes to jail (the
other hula hoop).
-In order to be freed from jail, the person’s teammate has to come and tag them to let them
free. The defender can tag the teammate letting the other one free to prevent them from
getting out of jail.
-If a person is let free from jail, she must go back and touch her home base before doing
anything else (may not touch a playground ball until she goes home)
-The team with the most amount of playground balls in their hoop at the end of 3 minutes
OR the team to successfully steal all playground balls gets 1 point for the round. The team
with the most points at the end of the period is the overall winner.
