“Imagine the World” Job description – Class teacher with TLR (2B) responsibility for Curriculum Transformation (Whole School) The Curriculum Transformation Leader (under the leadership of the Deputy Head teacher) will: Transform the school’s curriculum so that it is designed to help all children to develop in relation to clear and agreed purposes. The purposes should be constructed so that they can directly influence decisions about curriculum planning and delivery, pedagogy and assessment. Develop the purposes of the curriculum of the school so that children develop as: ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives , enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work , ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world , healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society. Design the school’s curriculum, which will have six Areas of Learning and Experience: Expressive arts; Health and well-being; Humanities; Languages, literacy and communication; Mathematics and numeracy; and Science and technology as outlined in the Successful Futures Document. Develop the pedagogical knowledge of all staff in order to enhance cross curricular learning opportunities provided for all learners in literacy, numeracy; and digital competence with a view to raising standards of achievement and attainment. Transform the school’s learning environment in order to address the demands of the new curriculum and provide challenging opportunities for independent learning and higher order thinking skills Network and liaise with identified professionals, educational establishments, pioneer schools in order to gather information in relation to best practice in curriculum transformation Demonstrate outstanding practice in their own classroom and provide peer support for all members of staff as and when required e.g. by supporting triad groups within the school Consult and liaise with all stakeholders of the school when planning for curriculum transformation Ensure that training and support, both internal and external, is organised regularly to all members of staff “Imagine the World” Create their own opportunities to consider, explore and discover what makes good teaching and learning and foster an environment where all staff take ownership and responsibility to undertake their own pedagogical field research. Consult with learners about learning styles and planning for the best learning experiences. Collaborate with AoLe Leaders, supporting them to embed the cross curricular responsibilities of literacy, numeracy and digital competency within each Area of Learning & Experiences. Work collaboratively and supportively with the TLR holder for Curriculum Transformation Assessment Recording and Reporting to ensure that policies and procedures for curriculum transformation are reflected in the school’s ARR policy and procedure. Monitor and review the impact of curriculum developments on the teaching and learning experiences within the classroom and on standards achieved and attained as a result.
