Prism & Color Spectrum When light passes through a wedgeshaped glass, called a prism, the beam of white light is bent and separated into bands of color, called the color spectrum. Hue Hue is the name of a color in the color spectrum. Color Wheel Visible colors are seen on the color spectrum. The different colors have different wavelengths. Primary Colors (Hues) The primary colors are: Yellow Red Blue Secondary Colors (Hues) The secondary hues are made by mixing two primary colors. Tints A tint is a light value of a hue. Shades Shades are a dark value of a hue. Intensity Intensity is the brightness or dullness of a hue.
