Third & Fourth Grade News T Themes: Scarecrows, Harvest, Myths, Nouns, Quadrilaterals, Area th th October 8 - October 12 Dear Families, Our class website is up and running! I posted the newsletter, Homework Assignments, Spelling Words and other info. Please go to the North Beach school district website, then go to ‘Select a School’ at the top left of the page and choose Pacific Beach Elementary School. Go to ‘Staff Home Pages’ and scroll down to Ms. Wood. I updated the Curriculum Outline and this is posted on our web page as well. I will follow this outline’s main focus in academic areas, however, I am also attempting to teach a small lesson in algebra, geometry, measurement and probability/statistics each week rather than waiting until later in the year to begin these strands. This way the students will be familiar with the terminology and vocabulary in these content areas as we use them throughout the year. I chose a student’s quote this week to use in the Kid’s Quote Column, however, I did not get permission to use the quote, so I will post it next week. We are having a meeting this week about some inappropriate recess behaviors that have been reported. I plan to focus on positive ways for students to problem-solve and make appropriate choices. Recess should be a fun experience and a time to practice positive social skills while getting exercise. Have a great week! Shani [email protected] (360)276-4512 I am sending home a list of higher-level question words so the students can practice the test-taking vocabulary words that will appear on state testing.
