Position Description Title: CCD Research Grants Officer HEW Level: Level 6 Faculty/Office: Faculty of Human Sciences Position Number: TBA Department/Team: Cognitive Science Date: 18 June 2014 Position Purpose: To provide administrative service and coordination for the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD). ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT The Faculty of Human Sciences offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs and contains a number of internationally recognised research centres and several clinical groups. The faculty has close links to the Macquarie University Hospital and the Australian Hearing Hub` The Department of Cognitive carries out research, teaching and PhD supervision across a wide range of domains of cognitive science, including memory, language, belief formation, perception in action, and reading. The Department hosts the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders, which brings together researchers from the Departments of Cognitive Science, Psychology and Linguistics at Macquarie University and thirteen other national and international institutions. The ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders is a multiinstitutional research centre comprised of 3 Research Nodes (at Macquarie University, University of Western Australia, and University of Sydney) and general Centre administration services. Additionally, the COO will interact with the ten international partner institutions, in the UK, USA, New Zealand, and China (Hong Kong). The CCD conducts research across a range of cognitive domains, including belief formation, language, memory, person perception and reading. Faculty of Human Sciences/Administrative Officer/ V.1.0 ORGANISATION CHART Head of Department, Cognitive Science Professor of Linguistics Direct report to Member of Executive Direct report to Member of Executive (Director CCD) Chief Operating Officer CCD Research Grants Financial Executive Offcer Officer Page 1 of 4 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide feedback and advice on ARC/NHMRC/other external grant applications and information about the various funding schemes available Assist in identifying new funding opportunities, and in the development and preparation of applications Research, prepare, review and collate the CCD annual report for review by the COO according to the ARC Annual Report requirements. Coordinate and monitor subcontract agreements with external institutions and the ARC. Coordinate, analyse and advise CCD team members and students on the Ethics process to facilitate Ethic Research Clearances with the MQ Research Office. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Contribute to the development, implementation and/or improvement of processes and procedures relating to CCD administration. Degree in relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience Writing reports using a range of data sources. Knowledge of research environments in cognitive science or psychology Analysing and reporting on data. Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet Researching and reporting information to assist with decision making. Advanced knowledge and skills in producing and editing long documents in Word and mail merging from Excel Working as part of a team and autonomously. Coordinating tasks and activities. Working with culturally diverse range of external and internal stakeholders. Maintaining professional working relationships. ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE Organisational and/or professional skills and information to be developed within the first 3 to 6 months for successful performance.
