Palmetto Islands County Park Guidelines
1. Alcoholic beverages are only allowed in designated areas with an approved application.
2. Radios must be kept at low volume.
3. Fires allowed in cooking grills only.
4. Removal or destruction of natural resources and wildlife prohibited.
5. Metal detectors are not allowed.
6. No swimming allowed in lakes, lagoons, ponds, or tidal creeks.
7. Pets must be kept on a leash (expect in designated off-leash areas), cleaned up after, and under control at all times.
8. Motorized vehicles permitted on designated roadways only.
9. Please stay on marked trails and paths.
10. Firearms, fireworks, remote control airplanes, and any dangerous projectiles are prohibited. Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission does recognize a valid South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit.
11. No bicycles, skates, rollerblades, or skateboards allowed on docks. Please walk bicycles on boardwalks and ramps.
12. Unrestricted fishing allowed in tidal creeks only.
13. All occupants of any canoe, kayak, or boat must wear a personal flotation device at all times while on any lake, lagoon or pond.
14. Activities involving sales and solicitation require written approval from park management.
Splash Island is an exciting water playground designed especially
for families. With 2 pool areas, a 200-foot water slide, a 17-foot
otter slide with four flumes, The Cyclone (a waterslide that swirls
visitors around), spray geysers and spray/play toys, kids will be
entertained for hours. A deck for sunning, snack bar, bath house,
and lockers complete this popular feature of the park.
Splash Island is the perfect spot for kids' birthday parties. We
offer Birthday Party Packages. Call 795-4386 for details.

- Swimsuits are required (No cutoffs)
- Swim pants are required for two years of age and under
- For your safety and enjoyment, park management reserves
the right to restrict entry to Splash Island when the facility
reaches capacity
- No outside food or beverages allowed in Splash Island

Palmetto Islands County Park is a nature-oriented park
designed for family and group use. It is built in a tropical
setting, with bicycle paths, boardwalks and picnic sites with
grills located throughout the park for your enjoyment.
The Park Center, overlooking a two acre pond, offers pedal
boat and bicycle rentals, a snack bar and an outdoor dining
area. Near the Park Center is our Big Toy Playground, an
exciting play area for kids of all ages.
Two large shelters (one with an enclosed meeting room) and
a small shelter are available by reservation for use by
large groups.
A 50-foot Observation Tower offers breathtaking views of
the tidal creeks and salt marsh.
The Nature Island features a trail with numerous
educational opportunities.
The Dog Park is a great place to play with your dog and meet
fellow dog owners.

Palmetto Islands County Park is owned and operated by the Charleston
County Park and Recreation Commission for the enjoyment of the
citizens of Charleston County and its visitors.
The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission reserves the right to use
