Access to this vital data lowers costs, reduce risks, and provides new revenue opportunities to the property owners while simultaneously enhancing the occupancy experience for the tenants.” FloodNot What is FloodNot? FloodNot is a flood detection sensor installed on the floor and mechanically attached to the wall base in the bathroom and the kitchen. This sensor detects water presence 1/16th inch or higher, makes an audible alarm to notify the tenant of a potential flood. If the tenant does not clear the water source within three minutes, then the FloodNot sensor sends an alert, via text message and email to the property manager, whom then can act accordingly in a timely fashion. The property manager’s quick response will likely result in a wet floor that is easily cleaned up with a vacuum, as opposed to a significant flood event with damages and repair cost both covered and not covered by insurance. The non-insurable risk typically costing $8,000 or more cash out of the Landlord’s pocket can include: temporary tenant housing, replacement of tenant personal property, insurance deductible, etc. We developed the Flood Not! sensor in response to request from Landlords who have experienced such losses. Conserving Water, Lowering Cost and Increasing NOI Why FloodNot? Each year property owners spend millions of dollars on repairing damage from indoor floods. If undetected because the tenant is away or asleep, damage can quickly climb into the tens of thousands of dollars. Ranging from asbestos or old lead paint removal to flooring replacement or temporary tenant housing, and even mold remediation or personal property damage, an indoor flood can quickly drown a property owner in bills. However, if the flood could be caught early on, the massive damage potential can be cut drastically short. Flood-Not provides such a resource by ensuring an indoor flood can be responded to in minutes. Installing a FloodNot, Interior Flood Detection System can insure that an interior flood event can be responded to within minutes, either by the tenant if they are at home, or by property management. When a FloodNot sensor detects standing or flowing water on the floor, it immediately sounds an audible alarm to alert or awaken the tenant. If the flood is not stopped within 3 minutes, it reports the problem through Sensor Industries, SIMesh technology that alerts property management via text message and email. The FloodNot system includes two sensors, one for the bath and one for the kitchen/laundry, and an Internet Gateway that connects SI-Mesh to our Internet Cloud-based monitoring application, SI-Data. As a bonus, once SI-Mesh is installed in your building, numerous other types of sensors such as water use monitoring, toilet leak detection, security, temperature control, etc., can be added in the future allowing your property to keep pace with the Smart Home technologies that tenants are increasingly demanding.
